i've got this clean, beautiful K4600 chassis that is much too far right on the horizontal axis; the horizontal centering pot on the P317 card doesn't do anything (i've tried two working cards.)

my other 2 K4600 chassis have the centering jumper wires (J608 for horiz and J604 for vert,) and a few additional resistors near P608, the pins for horizontal centering. this one is missing all of that and it doesn't look like it ever had any of it.

am i missing some specific P317-type card that would help take care of this centering issue? could i just add in the necessary components and make these jumpers work? or am i just S.O.L. with this chassis?

Early production 4600 monitors did NOT have the raster position jumpers or circuitry.

P317 and P318 video interface cards have a horizontal position pot on it. However, this feature will only work on very late production 4600 monitors. So in other words, the horizontal posion feature of these cards won't work in early or mid run 4600 monitors. All other features of the card will work, but not the horiz position feature because the 4600's main board doesn't have the circuitry.

well, that kinda sucks.

so i take it if there are no jumpers then there isn't anything that can be done about centering the picture. lame.

i'll have to try to revive a different K4600 chassis then; got one more lying around that isn't nearly as pretty.

In an earlier thread on centring 4600s, Ken said that Bob Roberts tells how to adjust the horizontal position "by adjusting horizontal hold coil L351 on the hor/ver board". However, the link that Ken gave - http://homearcade.org/BBBB/slanted.html - doesn't seem to contain that info.

sweet! that did it. this is going in a Centipede machine for sale and i didn't want to sell it if the 2nd player score was running all the way off the top
of the picture.
