been working on fixing all the 7000's in my recent raid. this one is a k-7000A 25 incher. its width is about 2 or 3 inches too big and have the W. coil all the way down. going to start with a cap kit or should I mess with the width cap? the 7000A is a direct drop in from a regular k-7000? same tube and yoke?

You mention that you have the width coil all the way down; does the size increase if you adjust the coil up? If the coil doesn't do anything, you may want to replace it and see what that does. That said, generally the width coil won't make any big adjustments - just minor fine tuning. It might affect the width an inch, but nothing substantial.

I'd recommend just buying a width cap kit from Bob Roberts (http://therealbobroberts.net/width.html) and start experimenting with difference values at C38. Again, if your width coil is shot, you'll want to replace it so that you can fine tune the width after changing your width cap.

I've had to do this on all sorts of monitors, (i.e. G07s, Sanyos, Wells, etc). It takes some experimentation, but it's really easy.

Good luck!

width coil works, but the screen is way big and cant be adjusted out. I will buy a width kit and do a regular cap kit on it and see what happens.

i don't ever fix a K7000a they are all parts to me.
if the fly goes you are stuck. and regular wells are a dime a dozen.

but that being said, what is the value of your C38 someone in the past could have modded it to play on a 27" tube.

it can never hurt to do a full out cap kit on it and a reflow.

There is a jumper for "Narrow" or "Wide" I believe. It's a yellow wire that's going to a post near two other posts. It looks similar to this. Move it to the "N" or "Narrow" post and see if the width shrinks at all. Just my two cents.

not on a K7000 or K7000a there is no such jumper.
you have to change the width cap.

That's strange because the one I just sent you has something like I described, but it's possible that it's function is not what I described.
