Just Wrong - This is why I hate Multicade

You must've missed b_koenig's multicade auction madness a couple of weeks ago. Apparently, people don't want subtle classiness in their multicade machines - they want full on gaudiness

HHmm...I've seen a million times worse...One of our members just sold one for big sheckles....its what it plays..not how minty it looks.

lol i actually don't think it looks that bad, i guess you don't like all the mismatched artwork?

looks a lot better than when they throw 50 different logos/images on the sides all scattershot, now that is awful

That's not terrible. Time was taken into it.

I actually get service calls around town for Multicades that people just threw together. They bought a JAMMA cabinet with the right controls, slapped the board and marquee on there, and 10 minutes later sold it. No cabinet reconditioning, no cap kits, CPOs from random games like Sky Shark, etc.

THOSE suck... at least that one there took a little time to make presentable, and odds are it was already converted when they got hold of the cab... like the one's I'm building.

I really hate the 'put artwork from a million games on there' look. If you're going to do that, get the dedicated Multicade artwork, at least it looks decent. Slapping down any old NOS artwork is a visual disaster IMO.

I have a multicade. It's in a Galaxian cocktail. I restored it (it was missing all the artwork) to look like an original Galaxian, but wired it (it was already hacked, but not Jamma)for Jamma from scratch.

I think that's the best option...keep it looking like an oringal game, but put the multicade in there. Obviously I wouldn't kill a classic to do it, but if it's already converted I think that's the classiest way to make one.

Yup....no art on the sides....just a new marquee....some nice fresh blue or red paint. Touch up the black paint....new white or black t-moulding and you got a half way decent sellable arcade. You not going to make a multi look like a classic.

I was more impressed with the size of the font used in the ad. Any larger and you'd have to hypenate each word to two lines.

Example:

I also really love the horribly large type and hyphenated words in the description but let's not forget the extreme close up shots that show every detail but not what the whole machine looks like.

Also the nice little detail that there is no marquee shot. Does it have one? If so what does it say.

Also, as far as that sort of thing goes it is better looking than 90 percent of the things like that I have seen. It is certainly better looking than those awful factory artwork mixes on the reunion machines.

The mame cabinets I used to build usually featured "random marquee". I just always thought homemade ones looked worse, no matter how nicely done.

lol i didn't even notice the lacking marquee, scary..

the words don't appear that large on my screen though, about one or two complete sentences per line.. i bet he has a widescreen monitor though, my resolution's set at 1440x900 - which makes me wonder if my ebay auctions must look screwed up to other people as well, i'll have to check that
