A few months ago I bought a nice pac-man cab (together with a ms. pac-man and a Galaga, read about it here: http://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=1416.0 )

anyway, Yesterday I finally had some time to investigate the game, and I pulled the game pcb out to check if it is working (on a jamma cab with jamma adapter). To my surprise there was label on the pcb, mentioning 'Super ms. pac-man'.

So, there is a ms. pac-man game in my pac-man cab. But there is no 'daughter' board present. I connected the game to my jamma cab and indeed:

Never heard of the game. Is this just a speed hack version (I noticed that ms. pac-man is running like hell)? I also noticed that someone has done a mod, or a repair on the board. Can anyone tell me more about this:

When Ms Pacman came out Midway/Namco tried to design a system that would prevent operators from just doing a simple rom switch. They did this by using the add on Ms Pac board. So operators would be forced to buy the full Ms. Pacman Machine. Over time the roms were cracked by operators/hackers who wanted to run ms pacman (a more popular game) in pacman cabinets that were not making money. The speed hack can be ran off the rom (just a faster Ms pacman, or speeded up by jumping the system to a faster MHz clock on the board (Everything is faster not just Ms. Pacman).

Two roms were added to row 6 to play mspac without the daughterboard. It looks like a hardware hack was done to speed the game up. I think this just speeds up the clock but im not real familiar with the hack. I prefer the software mod much better.
Thats a really low serial number, probably the lowest reported here for an upright. Find the thread and post your number there.

Thanks, I did. There was one with # 205, which is higher than my number :)
That's my 205! I was wondering who knocked me off the list. My board is 205 as well. I can't believe I missed this post back in 2010. These two were just a few feet apart from one another on the assembly line. Super cool.
