I'm going to be adding an Open Ice Challenge to my NBA Jam and I just wanted to confirm a few things.
I'm not real familiar with the PCB board, so first I wanted to make sure that the Open Ice does not have a sound board correct?
Second I wanted to make sure that the manual specifies that the pin outs are just about the same, but the manuals for each of the game shows the pin out on the opposite sides.
Are the harnesses switched or are they just showed on opposite sides?
What I mean by this is that on the NBA Jam pins 1-28 on the manual are on the left hand side of the page and the pins A-Z and a-f are on the right side of the page.
On the Open Ice pin out the pins on 1-28 and A-Z and a-f are reversed.
Does this mean that the harness is the opposite for each of the two games?
And lastly, is there anything special that one game has that the other doesn't, ie. hard drive, different power supply, etc....
Any help with these questions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

open ice is a closer to mk3 than nba jam. I have not checked, but there is a very good chance the wiring for player 3 and 4 is different. So you will probably need to make an adapter or hack in the wires for 3 and 4 into your existing connectors for nba jam.

Pretty sure open ice is 1 board, no sound board and no HDD. Wayne gretzkey has a HDD.

Open Ice doesn't have a sound board or HD. I believe the p3 and p4 harnesses are the same as Jam. If your intention is to just swap it in and play, that should work fine. I have my Jam TE set up with a Jamma switcher with 2 on 2 Open Ice in there as well.

Ok.
So the last thing is to clerify why the harness is showing the reversed pin outs of the A-Z / a-f as well as the 1-28 for each game.
Is it the same on each its just shown in reverse?
It shows the same thing in the NFL Blitz pin outs too.
