i made it thru half of avatar and turned it off, ive never seen the whole thing i thought it was lame. however tron is usually in my dvd at least every 2 weeks.

Well, Spin Master is sure counting on the movie to be good. They paid a good bit for the license for the toys...

Well, to be quite honest, if my memory is correct, Tron was released and was in theatres at the same time as Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. I may have my dates off a bit, but I distinctly remember going to see both of them. I think one got more public dollars than the other.

I love recognizers. That is the only toy from the new movie I have picked up. I want none of the others.The Die Cast Recognizer is really nice for 4 bucks.

When I saw the first Recognizer in the new trailer, I had to look down real fast to make sure I didn't have a mess to clean up around the waist area

Also, it's not like those recognizers were in the movie very long. If you haven't watched it recently (or many times, like some of us ) you probably wouldn't recognize it (pun intended). Of course, I play the game alot too, and they make an appearance in there (level 5, 7, and every 5th tank level after that), so I would know them instantly.

They weren't?? They took out Clu the first time you see him, they are the guardians at the end of the lightcycle race that fail in their task, Clu ends up DRIVING one.. How many times more did you need to see them???
I love how they sound like Helicopters when they're coming.

Maybe they're in there longer than I thought. Is it the tanks that aren't in there very long? (I may have mixed the scenes up...actually, I haven't watched it in a year or two

OK, just dug out my DVD and watched that whole scene starting with the light cycles. I know what I was thinking of now. The grid bugs are only on there a few seconds. My mistake I knew one of the main game elements from the arcade game was only in the movie briefly.

I have been waiting for the 2nd Tron release for what 3 or 4 years now. Ever since they released the production idea. Now both of my sons are wanting to go see it at the imax.

i posted 3 pics of recognizers on another forum that is r/c aircraft related this morning, well, around noon. Right now 5 of 11 people knew what it was.
And quite frankly, the recognizer is a rather vague reference. Post a light cycle and i bet nearly everyone knows what it is.
I gave them another clue with a bit, just to see if that sparks anyone's memory as well.

I think this is yet to be seen since the movie has yet to come out. Personally I'm not thinking the world will fall in love with tron but I can tell you that Disney believes they will. In a couple weeks we'll have a better idea as for now I don't expect a lot. I can say that I can't find a copy of tron on DVD in any store locally (not that I need one I already have it). I was also more than a bit surprised when I walked into chili's wearing my new tron adidas warm up and the 18-20 year old female greeter asked "where did you get that?" Not really sure right now how the film will go over but I think it's at least possible it will do well. I seem to recall how the buzz over avatar was not huge until the release.
as for the world outside this forum. If you have delusions that most people think we're cool and envy us and our hobby, I think you're sadly mistaken.
