I bought an unopened box of TRON trading cards from 1982 on ebay. 36 wax packs; 8 cards and 1 sticker per pack. There's supposed to be 66 different cards and 8 different stickers total. I left it down in my arcade for a couple of weeks, not wanting to open the individual packs just because they're so old and never been touched. Couldn't resist. I carefully opened each pack so I could reseal them later. I laid out all 66 cards and 8 stickers, and the box so everyone could see. It was fun opening them up and laying them out. I felt like I was 12 years old again. I love this kind of stuff. Seems like you would've probably had to buy the entire box(324 cards) to get all 66. At 25 cents a pack, that's $9.00 for the box. More than I would've had in my pocket 25+ years ago....

Wow that is awesome. Its very cool to open some of this 'old' stuff, in new condition.

I did that with bunch of Garbage Pail Kids cards recently. I loved those things when I was a kid.

WOW, That's what childhood dreams were made off.
As a kid I always was thinking, Damn I wanna buy a whole sealed box, damn wish that was possible.
You did confirm my thoughts on trading cards in general, one needs to buy a whole box and that's nearly impossible as other kids buy from the box that you buy from etc etc..

What a cool post with the pics and all!!!!

Very nice! Thanks for sharing. Are those Topps? I wonder if there's a Beckett for them...

You maybe able to send them out and get them graded by Beckett or PSA.

I know the lure of opened boxes/pack of cards...I used to run a hockey card store online..still have a few old boxes sitting back in storage..calling out softly...

I still have unopened boxes of The Crow and Spiderman but would rather have Tron anyday. I didn't even know they had Tron cards. Nice score.

Wow really? I totally remember these from BITD. As well as dragon's lair cards, nintendo power cards, pac man and I think ms pac cards, plus a couple of generic video game cards that gave tips about games. If you have a good local comic and card store you may be able to buy complete sets of these cards. I know that's how I got my set of tron cards years ago.

You know what'd be kinda cool? You could scan them at high rez., tile them onto a single page, then print it out as poster size at a kinkos to mount on your wall. Then reseal them up to preserve them.

You inspired me to buy a box off ebay....thanks, another sickening hobby to get into! ;)

They're not Topps, they are "Donruss" co. out of Memphis, TN. That's all is says on the box...

Those are cool! Would be cool to toss them behind a frame or something and display 'em in the arcade...

I think there is maybe 1 or 2 of the 66 that weren't duplicated from the entire box. But I figured I would put them in a large frame all together, and then put it on the wall next to my Tron machine. Not quite sure how I would mount them yet, or what kind of backround should be in the frame...but it would be cool. I can't leave 'em sealed in that damn box forever. The duplicates maybe. But I think these 66 and the 8 stickers need to be displayed. Jeez I only paid like $12 plus 3 or 4 for shipping, so its not bad at all. Definitely worth that for all the enjoyment I got out of them just opening them up and seeing them for the first time.

Donruss was another huge card company, they made tons of baseball cards. When I was a kid my dad used to sell cards at the flea market, we'd open up box after box after box and make sets out of them.

Wow that's cool. I only collected football cards back in the 70's and 80's; never baseball. So I had never heard of Donruss until I bought these Tron cards...

I'm been searching eBay for months looking for a cheap deal on a full box of Tron cards. Where did you find one so cheap?

Topps/Bowman made the majority of trading cards in the late 70s, early 80s. Donruss was probably jonsed to get the Disney merchandising contract!

Another full box just ended today; went for $16.39. Only 5 bids. They pop up quite often. Just type in Tron on ebay; then select "trading cards". I've seen at least half a dozen full boxes pop up in the last 6 months....

Heh, also hit ebay, grabbed the full collection for $10 shipped (unboxed)... now to figure out some way to hang them...
