Just sharing: Eagle by Centuri FS in MN

I think it's a bit high, but not ridiculous. I'd be willing to pony up $400 for it if it were local.

I agree. The upshot is that most casual home collectors might want a video game but don't want something that big. Cabaret Ms. Pac-Mans, Galagas and Pac-Mans usually go for a lot more than this. For them to have something fun in their house that doesn't take up a huge amount of space--this is probably a great buy.

In this economy, for that game (boring and not well-known), in this location (midwest)... that's about $150 too high to be interesting.

Seriously.

... and FYI... I'll grant you cabarets are of interest to space-challenged folks but Eagle is no Ms Pac or Galaga in the 'desirability' department.

Cabarets are also interesting to non-space-challenged folks.

Preaching to the choir my friend.

Check my posts and you'll see I have spread the cabaret love all over this group... selling my BZ cabaret, Dig Dug cabaret, Qix cabaret, Centipede cabaret, AD cabaret, Mr Do cabaret and an SI cabaret (although I am probably forgetting a few) to other forum members over the last 18 months.

I have more, so the sharing will continue once they are up and running.

FYI - the ONLY one that was as high as $450 was the Centipede. It was a Multi-pede and had been completely restored from the ground up. The rest were all cheaper... some considerably.

So $450 for a Centuri Eagle?
Uhh... no.

;-)

I am sure you can score it for $100-$150 when he still has it in a few months. There was a guy with a stand up Eagle that had it on the MN CL forever and couldn't get more than that for it. Known games are a tough enough sell. Knock offs of popular games or seldom seen versions get no action.

Speaking of that...here's looking at you, the guy trying to sell the Majestic Twelve game on CL for the last year. News break...no one cares and you would be lucky to get 1/3rd of what you want now, it was even higher before. Only thing going for it is that it is in a Taito cab.

This is one of those times where I *almost* want to buy it so I don't have to see the damn ad anymore...

You sold your Qix and Dig Dug cabarets for cheaper than $450?

When I was in the market for a Qix cabaret, I was offering $700 with no takers at that price. I wouldn't let go of my Dig Dug for under $500, which is what I bought it for. And there was a line for it at the time.

And you now know at least one person who'd shell out $400 for a Centuri Eagle cabaret. ;)

Ha. Yes... both, for a lot less.

When I talk that guy out of the Eagle cabaret for $150 or so, you'll be able to pay for shipping and still be under $400.

;-)

Wow we have one of those in our area as well. It's been on craigslist since december if I remember correctly.

They only want $300 and it's "restored"

If anyone is interested and wanted it shipped, as long as you arrange all shipping ( pickup and packaging by a company) and throw me a bit I could pick it up.

Neat little cab.

I can understand why you might feel that way and I won't disagree that Eagle doesn't have the same mass market appeal as a Ms. Pac Man, but I would also argue that the arcades are at a low point right now and that you may be missing the forest for the trees.

I think it's a very good price considering how rare it is. With the way our government is spending money, it's not just oil that will be going through the roof. Anything that is rare and hard to replicate will/has increased in value if/as inflation is coming. Looking beyond whether or not you might able to save $100 by buying a more common Asteroids someplace else, ask yourself what do you expect to have a better return 10 years from now.

1.) A stock market fueled by debt
2.) A CD at 3% interest rate
3.) A rare one of a kind Eagle cabaret that you know that you have the skills to keep working and in antique condition.

I'm not saying that people should rush out and spend all their money on video games, but there does need to be some recognition of the fact that these games become rarer and rarer with every year that passes. This game may not have the playability that modern Xboxers have grown addicted too, but it has tremendous value to those who don't want to see these arcades go extinct. In 10 to 20 years, the museums will start bidding on games exactly like this and I bet the price won't look quite as ridiculous when Google searchers from the future stumble onto this thread.

there is a mint restored 1 in mcihigan near detroit...for $300
is it true that only 25 cabarets of eagle were made?

edit link above lol

I doubt that only 25 were made. I have seen 3 since collecting for about 3 years and 2 of tem were in the same location. I bought mine in working an in good shape for 100$ and sold it for 80$ I think
