and it's a MAPPY!!

I'm pretty stoked. I got really excited when I realized you can swap the board with galaga.

Complete with sweet wallpaper on the sides... Let me know what you think. Does anyone have a piece of the smoked plexi that goes under the glass?

Nice! arcadeshop.com sells some nice walnut grain vinyl covering that's nice.

Nice! I like personally like Mappy as much or more than Galaga. Anyone repro those cpos?

Mappy is awesome. I've been playing the crap out of it. I love the music and the concept. I like how some of the sounds are similar to galaga. Like when you open the microwave doors the beam that flies across the screen is the same as the tractor beam in galaga.

Phoenix arcade makes the cpos. They're a little pricey though.

Mappy is a great game if somewhat cutesy. I have heard but I do not know for sure, that Mappy and Galaga are the same PCB with different ROMs. Don't know if there is any truth to that. I have seen one Mappy cocktail and also only one upright. I would not mind an upright. Crazy looking cabinet, though.

I love my Mappy upright... your cocktailis a pretty awesome find.

I paid 200 for it. It works 100% but the monitor needs capped pretty badly. I just swapped one of my spare g07 chassis into it temporarily. It also needs the smoked Plexiglas that hides the screen burn. It already has an arcadeshop switching power supply installed but the original midway linear Is still there. I can take pics of the inside later if anyone is interested. I'm thinking about converting it to an arkanoid ;-) j/k

It'd be harder to play with only a 2-way stick, but Gaplus/Galaga 3 should also plug right into the harness.

I don't think I could get past level 1 in Galaga 3 with a 2 way joy.

Yeah, it's definitely alot harder that way. I can get to where they start going across the bottom row during the formation (parsec 4) with a 2-way. You'd need to kill them all before they do it, or know which side to go to in order to avoid them. With a little practice, I'm sure I could clear it.
