Just scored a Computer Space...

Holy vacuum tubes Batman! I sure hope that monitor (TV) never breaks. That's some scary looking stuff.

Great looking machine. Is that the same TV used in Computer Space? It looks just like the one I saw John working on in his repair videos.

I was told that it is. The picture tube has a GTE/Sylvania label but the seller told me it was the same GE TV set used in CS. One of the tubes has the RCA logo too.

back then they didn't make the wiring that safe, congrats on the score.

Do you mean the anode wire, or elsewhere in the game? Should I be concerned?

What's the coin bucket look like?

Unfortunately I don't know. The mech & bucket were not included with this one. I imagine this might have had the paint can. It has a credit button on the side. And as nice as the game is I wouldn't be surprised if it never saw commercial use.

One question, is yours showing 11 - 11 on the attract screen, because mine always starts at 1 - 11, and how could both players get to the winning score on the same game?!?

11-11 on powerup, Then just stays on the last score after a game. Goes up to 15.

I'm going to try to hold on to this one for those who showed interest. But I wouldn't mind finding a value on it, and any other info for that matter. Can't find much on Google.

Ebaying it would be the only way to tell for sure. However I would probably think it to be worth something in the 500 to 600 range.

Well one slight problem. Picture's a little shaky when next to another game. Obviously getting some interference. Maybe I should shield the PCB and/or monitor somehow?

More eye candy. Even the original plug is in good shape.

Well mine only goes up to 11. I studied the picture you posted of your pcb, and mine's identical *except* for location G8 where mine has two rows of three separate solder points, whereas yours has two of those points bridged on both rows. I'm guessing a switch was supposed to be put in there but they cheaped out (or ran out of supplies - I don't know). Either way, I'm going to bridge those same spots on my board and see what happens whenever I get some time. I'll let you know if it works...

That game looks super nice, congrats. Regarding the price, great deal! Im digging that cabinet. Reminds me of a time seeing a fiberglass space race at some local guys place. Looked like this: http://catver.rotheblog.com/images/S_spacerace.jpg

Your cab is so slick and well designed. Feather light is a cool feature. Clean and looks great. It really held up well.

Most pong clones I have seen usually have the winning score set at either 11 or 15 and usually selectable via dip switch or jumper. I don't see any dip switches on this one so I would guess you are spot on with your theory. I would be curious if adding jumpers to your board would successfully change the winning score but, on the other hand, would hate to see you risk damage. Have you done any research on this? In any case I'm happy with mine as it is now.

Just to follow up on this for the sake of posterity, I did do the modification to my board and soldered those aforementioned points together, and, lo and behold, my Computer Space Ball now plays to fifteen too. But my attract mode still starts at 1-10 and stays that way until a game is played, so I don't know why our two games differ in that respect.

But anyway, putting a switch on the pcb at location G8 would allow one to switch back and forth between eleven or fifteen points needed for a victory, but I'm happy with leaving mine set at fifteen for the rest of my days...

It's worth way more than $600.

How much? Hard to say but I'd guess a lot more.

Cool, good to know. I keep forgetting to mention that mine has mild screen burn with 10-10 burned in. I'm guessing the attract score on power up represents different settings, maybe different rom revisions? Maybe both?

Anyone else care to chime in on this?

I'm also thinking about trying to find some tubes (hopefully not too expensive) for spare parts, just in case. Is there a way to identify which tubes I currently have?

I have an S-F Chassis, and there's a diagram to the side of the chassis, mounted on the inside of the plastic housing to the left. It shows each tube's number and location...

That is the hard part. Is this worth more than an original yellow pong? I thought no, so I priced it just under Pong pricing, but I could be very wrong.
