Just out of curiosity, do garbage pickups actually take full cabs away (especially with a monitor)? I couldn't get mine to take a regular size garbage bin with a hole in it away for christ sakes.

Honestly in that area im not sure. In my area you have to pay someone to remove a Monitor like that. I think maybe the guy is just hoping. If I had the room (and time) right now it be mine. What cabinet is this anyway (sorry im such a noob)?

Smash tv!! Really fun game

Smash TV cabinet.
In my area, the garbage folks would leave it.
But I think it is out there with the understanding of universal "free"

I put a cab out the other day and the garbage men took that. It was a big crisis zone cab. I gutted everything out of it first. I actually couldn't believe they took it. They've not taken cardboard boxes before because they wernt broken down.

My other half would have pointed it out, yelled at me to load it up, and been sorely disappointed had I passed.

She also was looking at a breakfast menu for a local British pub that serves breakfast, and noticed baked beans on an entree and said "The Baked Beans are OFF!" like the Spam sketch on Monty Python.

I didn't even know she knew that one.

Mine would take it... I stuck an old sofa and a loveseat out there one day no problem.

Where I live we don't pay taxes for this, so we have a private service. MUCH better and cheaper.

Actually when arcade cabs are left out for garbage pickup I get first dibs! Pretty cool when you work for the city :) To be honest it's pretty rare in my city to have someones's arcade cab pop up and be left out for trash pickup, either someone off the street picks it up or the whole cab gets picked up with a flatbed truck if it contains a monitor which will be removed and recycled. The cab whould be crushed and placed in the garbage after the monitor is removed. That being said working there almost 6 years I never seen or heard of any arcade or pinballs being left out for garbage pickup except for CEC and that's another story.

Actually, this game is currently in my garage (I think). A friend of mine was looking for a cab for a multi game (yeah, I know I'm going to hell for helping him do this) and drove by the trash pile on his rounds and grabbed it. The game had largely been scrapped/trashed. The monitor was broken, marquee messed up, control panel joysticks destroyed by moisture. The inside had completely been gutted (all wires cut, etc) and there was a ton of water damage inside and out (looks like it got rained on the top and the flooded from the bottom....possible leaky basement?). All in all, it will clean up nicely for what this guy wants to do with it, but seems like an unsuitable (At least for the person who grabbed it) candidate for a full restoration.

Strangely, the only things that were left unpirated and SEEM to be in good shape are the two game boards inside. They don't appear to have gotten wet and with one exception (where the owner must have tried to replace a chip), all chips seem good (labels are still clearly marked and sticking to the chips....I would think direct moisture would have caused them to peel off or run).

If anyone is interested in these boards, please let me know and make an offer. They are UNTESTED and sold AS-IS, but might be worth a try for someone rebuilding a Smash TV. Not sure if the new owner of the cabinet will use the monitor brackets or not, but those might become available. Nothing else from the monitor or chassis is worth bothering with.

I agree that Smash TV is a fun game....I'm surprised that someone let this one get to this condition.

It did rain about an hour before i saw it on the side of the road. But I do remember at LEAST seeing harness wiring, and there was NO control panel at all.

Perhaps different game, although he grabbed it from the same area.....all wires were gone and the control panel was inside the cab. It would be weird to have two dumped in the same area in the same week. I sent him the photo to see if this was the trash pile he grabbed from.

depending on the condition and if it's available i'd be interested in the control panel, your buddy would have an easier time cutting a all wood panel vs one made of wood and metal :D

I didnt look inside (from the front) so control panel may have been there, but from the back (the back cover was missing) i could see wires hanging down, so maybe someone grabbed the wiring before you got there?????

copper guys are crazy. I was waiting in line at the steel recycling place to unload a 1000 lbs of old commercial washers when this crazy old guy in line in front of me starts clipping off all the visible wires on the things.
