So last night I picked up the original NFL Blitz "1998" setup from a friend of mine and everythign runs and works great. It is only a 2 player model and from what I can tell it runs a JAMMA+ setup according to the IAM information. It also came with the "boards" for blitz 99 and blitz 2000, what else would I need to complete the conversion?

IDEALLY, I'd love to pickup NBA Showtime/NFL Blitz combo and put that in there. However, I've always known that setup to be a 4 player unit, but my console only has 2 joystick setups. Can this work as a 2 player game?

I found this on ebay an was wondering if it could be made to work with my setup?

any advice would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks very much everyone.

It would play but you would not have 3-4 player. Either you could buy a 4 player control panel or build one 18"x36" and KLOV or ebay a midway 3-4 player harness. You would still need to wire controls.... also found on eBay 34 bucks search (happ controls ) or (jamma controls)

Hope this help

The flip of a dipswitch and it plays in two player mode. That's how I used my blitz 99, showtime and sportstation boadsets. If you don't flip the dipswitch you will play on the same team in a two player game and 3-4 player won't be available but if you do flip it you will play against each other in a two player game.

complete board is pcb and matching hard drive.

If you have 2000, can't see why you would play 99 or regulr blitz, but the pcb would be useful if the 2000 pcb dies (just move the boot rom, security chip, and HDD and your good) .

now i dont know if these can be installed to the existing hardware or if i would need something along the lines of what i found on ebay in teh original post to do the swap.

can i "install" the provided pieces and then just swap the hard drive to a blitz 2000 setup?

thanks!

if those eproms are good and they match the security chip and the hard drive, you can plug the blitz 2000 chips and hard drive into a working blitz or blitz 99 and upgrade it to 2000.

If the board was working and after you swap the chips and hard drive it quits working, you either bent a pin or have bad chips.

If the hard drive is bad, pretty sure the board will try to boot and then complain about the hard drive.

You can't mix/match the boot rom/security chip/hard drive for those games but the board itself was the same for all of them.

So to play blitz 99 you need to have the blitz 99 drive, rom, boot rom, and security chip installed. for blitz 2000, the 2000 drive, chip, rom, boot rom.

As mentioned before there's a dip switch setting to set the game to be a two player cabinet. there is also a dip switch setting for using 8 way joysticks instead of the 49 way sticks the games were designed and built with.

I have a full blitz 99 board set (working) with hard drive I'd sell if anyone is interested. Shoot me an offer at punkvault at gmail.com. I'll let it go cheap as it is just taking up space.

so since i have the 3 chips for blitz 2000 all i need is the hard drive if im reading this correctly. also is blitz 2000 the same at blitz 2000 gold? i cant seem to find any info on a blitz2000 that is not "gold"

"Gold" is what they called the final version of Blitz 2000, with the final roster updates, etc. I think most sellers are going to have the Gold version.

The boot rom has to match the version of the HDD or it won't work. So you either need to instsll the 2000 chips and find out what version you have or you need to order a HDD and the matching boot rom.

I think you can see what version of the boot rom is on the 1st loading screen.
