Well, you were all right.. less than a month after my first game and I already have two more. I went down to Greenville, SC to take a look at an Amidar someone had for sale (I know this isn't a popular game, It has sentimental value for me, and hey, I like playing it!).

I get there and it's like an indoor flea-market type deal. There was a row of about 10 arcade games and Amidar was there among them. It was working and in pretty good condition, cosmetically. The price tag said $400.

Owner came over and started talking to me and invited me to go look around in the "warehouse" ha! Went in back and there were about 60-70 games in various states of (dis)repair. He told me to go nuts, so me and my friend just started moving games around with a dolly and opening them up/plugging them in/checking out monitors bla bla... spent a couple hours in the proverbial brier-patch. All kinds of stuff back there, an old Gorf, Star Wars, sweet little Ms. Pac Man cabaret, defender...

...and then in the middle of all these piles of games I see a Mario Bros. Wide Body cabinet. Looks like all it needs is maybe a little work on the power supply - I spoke with their in-house tech who assured me the game and monitor were good - I plugged up the monitor independently of the power supply and it had a great "blank" picture on it (ha). The art is in great condition on it..

After a bit of negotiating I walked out of there with a working Amidar and a Mario Bros. Wide Body cab that is very close to working for $450.

And of course, out of absolutely nowhere, there was a violent thunderstorm with heavy rain on the way home. We managed to escape unharmed.

you should buy a roll of shrink wrap and leave it in you truck.. Home depot sells a roll.

dedicated amidar has to be rare.. Nice pickup. Mario was also a good find..

Were they yours?

Yeah we went by there a couple months ago, he wouldn't sell the Mario Bros. at the time though, i'm glad you were able to get it though, that's pretty cool. SuperGWario got a few games, and I got a few.

Just noticed you were the tech at Arcade Asheville too, that's cool that their business is good!

we hit that place a month or two ago, if you look close you may be able to see the dust leftover from where my mint food fight sat :)

Oh I see. I wanted to swing by and see y'all but I couldn't convince my buddy to drive the extra distance over there. One day..

My buddy Leonard got a grip of games from you a while back. They're in the arcade in Asheville now.

Yup, I remember. He's a good guy, I'm glad they're back out making money and getting played. When you swing by mention who you are so we'll know, if you're interested in any games we'll cut you a deal.

Volunteer tech! It got to be too much but I did manage to bring a few things back to life.. working on those games is what made me want to start collecting myself. They've got someone else doing tech there now, but I did manage to get an open bar-tab out of the deal.

Sometimes it doesn't, but never do it again, lol. It's supposed to be plugged into an isolation transformer, plus it reduces the voltage. So you plugged it in without the iso, AND put too much voltage to it. ZAP!

Sanyo's are bad ass, though. Even though you just electrocuted it, it probably STILL works.

It didn't stop working for the few seconds that it was plugged in like that.. hope it's okay. Thanks for the info.
