Just picked up BSD - Any mods?

AWESOME web-site, spent 45 minutes lurking and reading everything there. That little truck was loaded with games, it's a good picture to post in case someone has a question if they dont think there small truck can haul a pinball machine(s). The answer "yes it can"!

In fact it can move 6 pinball machines.

One thing I can tell you is that Isuzu makes a freaking awesome 1/4 ton. I've abused that thing five ways from Sunday, done virtually nothing to it and it's still ticking. It won't impress the ladies but it will move the hell out of some games.

RE: DIY LED's.

How much are you getting your super bright LED's for? Are they really that cost beneficial?I can't help but think you were getting an insanely good deal on the LED's in order to even make that worth your time.

Total cost per finished LED is around ten cents. Assuming I'm using one LED. I buy them in large quantities so I get a good price. I also use a lot of LEDs for other projects. Example: This year I made a microcontroller controlled Christmas sweater with over 200 LEDs on it (it was freaking awesome). It's not always about saving money. You can make lots of stuff yourself that is not available commercially. That's my main motivation. That said... If you're doing most of a game and creating custom stuff you can still save quite a bit.

Now that the price of LEDs has come down a lot I probably won't be making as many but I'll still be making stuff like color change LEDs and stuff that's either too expensive or not available. For $0.39 it's really not worth my time to make my own basic single LED stuff.

I know there are some US companies doing some of the LED's but the majorit of them seem to be from China. I'll be working on putting some kits together over the next couple of months after some testing and working out bulb types, and I can promise, kits won't be $180. I do agree though, building your own is not worth it money wise, but it's always fun to have something truly unique you did yourself :) I don't think I'll be making any LED sweaters in Hawaii though.

Any pictures of that whirlwind pinball with LED's?

So ... I brought home my new (to me) BSD last night. Overall, I am happy with it for the price paid. Everything works and the playfield is in good cosmetic condition. One side is horribly faded, but I think I can hide it against the wall.

So ... any good mods out there for this game?

I read somewhere about some prototype sling plastics ?!?!

And I guess I'll need a cliffy protector ... anything else you guys have seen done to BSD that would be worthy of doing to this one?

Thanks in advance ...

Steve

I might be able to offer an opinion if I knew what a BSD is??????

As far as I can tell being a relative pin-noob, the habit of referring to pins by minimal abbreviations works because there are only a hundredth of the amount of titles compared to video arcade games.

It drove me nuts at first, too, but I've gotten used to it.

Why don't you stop being lazy :)

Search here for abbreviations:

I know what machines they are talking about. I just think it's stupid. Like a bunch of sissy girls speaking pig latin. They can't take the time to type what the name of the machine is and I'm the one who is lazy?

I agree--at least type the name out once, preferably in the thread title! I promise to do so myself going forward...

Good point. When I post on KLOV I always put the full name in the title of the thread.

No more frustrating that reading all of the wonderful broken grammer around here or seeing the 1000th person say they placed an "add" somewhere :)

It's just part of the hobby. This has come up in the past and the same responses come up. Other hobbies have their own acronyms... like car enthusiasts with their FMICs, DPs, MBCs and CATs :)

I know but it just screams "look at me I'm in the loop I know how to abbreviate" Bugs the crap out of me. Like Stevenp61 said at least type it out once preferably in the title.
