Hi

Just picked up a X-Arcade Stick (The Tank) from a Australian distributor. I am yet to get it running, buy I thought I ask forum users who have one of these what do you think of the product?

The X-Arcade Stick is a temporary measure until I get my arcade machine built.

Some like it, some don't.....

I personally like it as a gateway to collecting; it has a good quality build, excellent support from the company making them, and is simple to setup and well supported.

People have complained about the quality of the sticks and buttons as they are copies bur I've had the standard dual for years now and I like it. Some other interfaces have better programming setups but the x-stick does have config files for things like mame so I didn't really care. When I got mine it was pretty much that or the hotrod. Now you have some extra interface boards to make your own. Friend bought one last year(the tank one with trackball) and put it on a cabinet. Modified the cabinet and made it look reasonable. He seems happy with his.

I noticed when opening the package and quickly filling around with the buttons, that the buttons felt loose and of poor quality. But I hope the product will preform well.

Last time I used one was on a last gen console...and it had significant input lag utilizing those convertors. Seemed to be okay when running on a Win32 PC straight through the USB, but I still had to alter the USB port's polling rate (more the OS's lag issue than the hardware's). If you're not hardcore about noticing input lag, none of this will bug you.

As for it being horrendous or wonderful...it all comes down to what you're using it for.

I think they're rubbish personally, far too overpriced for the cheaply built kit they are. Note: for disclosure I run a store selling parts and machines etc in Australia, but this does not affect my opinion of the xarcade!
