Tough game! it's a fun game for just scoring, but if you want to complete the modes you need to bring it.

A lot of people say this game is garbage but so many people base that off the williams version. I've owned both, and I do think I like sterns better. Williams is a solid tight game, but sterns is fresh, new and ties in (barely) all 4 films. I also like the whole art package better (yes, even the backglass) The dmd movie clips and sounds are really cool, the magnet for the ark is great and 8 ball multiball is NUTS! Add 2 captive balls, double spinners and a slick ramp and it makes for a solid game.

Basically, you can go crazy and just try to score your ass off. My only complaint really so far is: Some of the best movie clips and sounds are in the later modes, and you have to complete the first modes to get to them. When you do a mode, every shot you make progresses the movie clips and sounds for that scene, so it's pretty neat.

Anyone else play one of these? I played one at Disney World when it was new (which is important for this title, to be 100% working) and decided I wanted to try and find one. I've heard a ton of bad reviews on this game only to follow ''but the one I played, played like crap''

Thanks, James

I bought mine NIB and love it. Most people that come to my house love it because it is easier to play than most. They really love the 8 ball multiball.

I thoroughly enjoy this game. An arcade had it near where I was staying on vacation a year ago. Played it every chance I got. Definitely a great (if under-appreciated) game.

I have'nt seen the Stern IJ But from most i hear it was a Major dispointment.

I'm a Williams guy IJ for me is in my top 3 Pins

This is why a lot of machines get a bad rap. Most have heard of and never played one. Also, most bally/williams followers can't bring themselves to like a stern. Bad or not, at least stern is still making machines.

I have to say I really enjoy playing the Stern IJ. I've put a lot of time on that machine and have had a lot of good times. I'm definitely a Bally/Williams snob too but Stern's machines are definitely enjoyable and some rank pretty high up there.

The reason I started getting in to sterns, is because they are fun games and have solid replay value, such as bonus multipliers and shots that add up at balls end. This makes the possibilities endless. I still like the williams/bally games, but they are not as reliable, and now they're old, with a lot of worn parts, including the playfields. At first plays, I was not a stern fan, because I played heavily routed machines, and something always seemed broken or snapped. In a home environment, they hold up well, and currently I have 4 sterns.

Thanks, James

I love B/W and Stern games and I've played IJ4 plenty of times...I like opening the ark, but that's about it...aside from that, it's BORING. The whole game is "Shoot this 30 times, watch video clip, then shoot it 50 times, watch video clip." IJ4, unfortunately, was a simplified Stern that was boring....in 2010 they figured out how to make simpler games that were fun w/ Big Buck, Iron Man, and Avatar.

I think that's a big problem for a lot of people, they play a dirty Stern on route and form a bad opinion of them. TSPP for example is terrible when it gets dirty--garage won't open, flippers can't make the living room shot, just kills the whole game. In general, I think Williams games are a little more playable when they get worn down/dirty because Stern has a tendency to put unmakable critical dirty shots into their games sometimes (TSPP living room/garage problem, LOTR ring shot, etc). I own three Sterns (TSPP, SM, WoF) but IJ4 (in my opinion) isn't the greatest game, seemed to repetative and doesn't exactly have the most exciting shots other than the Ark/magnet thing.

Stern IJ is awesome. Congrats.

It's a solid game. No it's not really as nice as the Williams version but it doesn't suck either. I find the layout a little too much like Whirlwind and every other game that copied it since then. I like the art, sounds, etc. Pretty fun game, a little repetitive. The Ark multiball is pretty cool. I've had a few really good games on the one that's on location near my office.

I like a lot of Sterns, but they definitely have lower quality, cheaper feel, looks, and build compared to Williams machines. And I don't really care if Stern makes new games, most of them are big disappointments and drop in value like a rock anyway. There are plenty of Williams games to go around and keep home buyers satisfied.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Stern hater, they have made several pins in the last 10 years that I really like. TSPP is one of my all time favorites, that game always kicks my butt.

My #1 rule of pins... Do not judge until you play!

Sure there are lots of opinions and, perhaps, the well known opinions match the majority --- but maybe not! It might just be that a small number of pin collectors have big mouths! ;)

I like RBION a lot, for example. While it has got a lot more love recently, it did not initially.

Back to the new IJ ... Never played it but hope to some day.
