Another KC road trip. Was supposed to be fully working and $125, but what a big suprise, no sound. So we settled at $100. So now I just need to find out what's causing the sound issue and give this thing a bath and a few tweaks.

I know this game doesnt get alot of love but I play it in MAME all the time, theres a certain charm with this one, at least in my opinion. Already hate the CP though, it's giving me carpall tunnell. The monitor is absolutely gorgeous and has no screen burn at all.

All things considered, not a bad pickup. Thought I'd share.

challenger..

these have been popping up all over lately. i have 2 myself and know of 2 more in the houston area. i agree, its a great game and def will have one in the 'cade..

Centuri vector

Cool I have to say. Was just looking at a converted Centuri cab from the other vector in Ontario. Had to look it up didn't even recognize the name: Aztarac. Once I read it was a vector gave up on saving that one. Mame would be the only saving grace and too many miles to get it. Nice to see another classic vector.

I have a Megatack with extra boards which is basically a sister of this game and I might have an extra sound board. I will check tonight when I get home.

Just so you know, Challenger isn't a vector game. It's a standard res. monitor. But I think its a fairly uncommon game. I've never seen one until now.

A special thanks to Ralph, I now have sound! Just had to swap the custom and replace a bad volume pot. So a Megatack sound board works great.

I narrowed down the culprit on my board to the 8127 chip (the middle chip in the row of 3), just in case anyone runs into a similar issue.

Still debating on putting a joystick in. If only the buttons were mounted higher up so my wrist could get a break.

I saw that one listed on CL. Glad to see it went to someone who would keep it and not make it another god-awful-overpopulated-market 60-in-1.

Final photos and a video...

Thanks. Whats funny is I have an Asteroids Deluxe in the shop right now. It's missing the vector monitor which should be arriving any day now. But I'm completely out of room now and dont want to put anything on the chopping block, so I'm torn on what to do. I was planning on keeping it and putting it next to Centipede, then the Challenger came about and that's where it sits now.

I just resurrected the Vectrex thread, click here if you want to check that out.

Thats in awesome shape!! I have never seen that in the wild so I have never played it but I'm sure I'd like it as it reminds me allot of Space Duel, one of my favorite games. Because of that my eyes were also fooled into thinking this was vector until someone mentioned otherwise. I may have to ad this one to the want list.
