My 7 cabs just made the move and everyone made it except wizard of wor. It just pops the breaker Everytime I power it up. Where should I start? I'm only a gamer not a fixer.
Thanks

What breaker?

The house breaker or the power strip breaker? If so, check the power cable for crimps/damage. If it has a replacement plug on the wire check it for shorts...

Next open up the game and look for screws, coins, misc metal pieces laying across stuff in the bottom of the cab.

It's the gfi outlet that pops. I'll opener her up later in the week. 2 kids under 2 is killing my hobby time

Sometimes GFI outlets get weak and pop with a very low current draw, I'd check the stuff mentioned in the prior post first and then try a new outlet. We had one that would pop when the hair dryer was turned on but run most everything else I tested on it fine.

Okay so I opened up my wow. And it looked all fine I inspected cord and its got a cur in insulation, also the head connection is suspect at best. So I need to buy a bally/midway cord with the miles connector on it. So I dint have to hack together a cord from Lowes. Please help if you know of a location to buy this.

You don't want to plug these games into GFCIs. Many, many, many of them have significant ground leakage, which is perfectly safe but will trip GFCIs. Plug it into a regular outlet -- does it work? Then don't worry about it.

GFCIs DO NOT protect against over-current. All they do is detect current going out via the line but not back in via the neutral -- useful in a bathroom or kitchen where electronic appliances may get wet; totally pointless in a dry gameroom. If that outlet isn't anywhere near water, just replace it with a regular outlet.

-E- Reading again -- you said your cord has a cut in it? Do you see exposed copper? I'd probably just patch it with electrical tape if it otherwise still works.

I would not recommend that. That GFCI may serve other outlets too!

For some reason in our area (Maryland) they tie multiple outlets to a single GFCI. I had to go into the basement and untrip my neighbor's GFCI in order to get his Christmas holiday lights working.

I tried a reg. Outlet blew that too. So my guess is the cord. So now 2 questions 1. Can I just buy a 15 amp cord at Lowes and hack it together. Or do I need to connect it through the molex. If so can I run a store bought cord through that old molex? Or do I need to buy a original cord with that connector? Thanks for all your help

That's standard procedure pretty almost everywhere. One GFCI outlet can provide protection for multiple outlets without having to buy relatively expensive GFCI outlets for every location.

I'd start with the ruthorrick suggestoin though. Plug it into a standard outlet that you know goes back to the breaker box. If it doesn't throw that breaker, you should be good to go. Just arrange things so you can get to the regular outlet with the game.

ETA. Yes, pick up a heavy cord at Lowe's and a Molex connector at Radio Shack to use the pins from if they don't have the exact connector. You can re-use your old shell and put the new pins in it. Needless to say, mind you get them in the right locations.. ;)

Good luck!

Just got a new power cord and replaced that, found two ungrounded ground wires by speaker so connected those, and found a bare wire by cp harness put a wirenut on that. Hit the power and its fixed. This may seem like a micro fix and it maybe to most klovers but this is a huge victory for me. Gives me a feeling that I can diagnose my space dual issue now. Thanks for everyones ideas on wizard of wor
