another CL grab, I picked up a Fire Trap and Zoar. Both we're absolutely filthy with sand, cobwebs, spider webs and trash inside! But I'm in the process of cleaning them both up. Fire Trap is working but I think the buttons and J/S need replacing due to age and the sand getting inside them. Zoar on the other hand I bought not working at all. There was a rodents nest inside for sure, Cleaned all of that out and found a connection unplugged and a blown up fuse,Literally! But the monitor is gone. Plays blind, Someone put the power leads for the monitor before it goes thru the ISO.

I pluged in a NEWER monitor I had sitting around and pluged in the board wire harness and it keeps blowing a 5 amp fuse where the power comes in. Then the next time it tried to fry the PCB with sparks! Crap! but it's still playing,Whew! If I plug it back into the non working monitor it doesn't blow the fuse and it plays blind? Hmm?? Never had that happen before? I know the newer monitor is good. It was in a working cab I sold about a year ago.

I'll keep looking until I figure it out. It does have a really old Grey Transformer and a second smaller one someone installed. There's something funky here with the wiring and these 2 transformers? I need to remove one or both. The power supply is ancient too! Needs to go if I can update it.

I put the newer monitor in Fire Trap today, Looks great after I spend the better part of the day cleaning it up. I was able to keep the J/S, They were not as bad as I feared but I did replace the 3 buttons and the Plexi on the CP. Cleaned out all the spider webs and sand and the garbage. Now it's looking good! Plays good too.

Now I'll rewire Zoar and use the old monitor from FT to get Zoar a picture.

Good for you to save these from the dump. Firetrap looks to be the better game of the two. Zoar doesn't have a cabinet photo in the database, maybe you could submit your cab?

Good luck getting them both working.

Fire Trap is up and running !00%, Zoar will be a little bit more of a challenge beccause it seems someone did some wiring at some point in it's life and it's caused me a few tense moments.

Ok, it figures! Just as I'm finished fixing the wiring problem and replace the blown monitor with a working one.... POP!! Goes the old power supply!! LOL! But, I quickly had that solved by replacing it with a switching power supply so there! Take that Zoar! Your move!

Can you take a picture of how the second joystick is wired up for Fire Trap? I have this PCB, but am not sure how to get it work in one of my cabinets.

Does yours have the EMI Filter board? If not you may not need it since it's a Jamma board. You would have to basicaly double wire the J/S's for P1 & P2. The Component side of the PCB is P1 and the Solder side is P2.

P1 L J/S (P2 Pins Comp side)------- P1 R J/s (P2 Pins Comp side)

up is Pin 18 (V) -------------------- up is pin 22 (Z)
Down is 19 (W) -------------------- Down is 23 (a)
Left is 20 (X) ---------------------- Left is 24 (b)
Right is 21 (Y) --------------------- Right is 25 (c)

I don't have the EMI filter board, but basically I wasn't sure how to get the 2nd player wired up unless I just ran wires off the jamma harness straight to the joystick. I bought it like 5 years ago off of Ebay b/c I love Data East and had never seen the game before.
