I've just got them back from the Car Bodyshop.

3 Control Panels and 2 bezels I collected over the last few years, in readiness for restoring my upright cab.

None were great - cigarette burns, cracks and dings on all except for a NOS bezel I paid dearly for - and even that wasn't great!

Decided to take them to a quality car BodyShop and ask their advice - I thougt it would be a similar restoration job as a plastic car bumper.

Cracks were repaired using melted plastic filler, and was reinforced on the back where required with plastic mesh.

Colour was matched using a Spectro-photometer on my NOS bezel. It was a 9.3 out of 10 match with a Renault Silver, but they altered that standard colour to match the original Sega colour perfectly.

The bodyshop is an Approved Mercedes bodyshop, so I hoped I would get a better service than some back street gorillas.
They were very concientious, as they were not sure of the 1980's plastic used, and so did not employ a method that required "slow baking" in the ovens, which might have melted these hard to find parts!

Needless to say I am absolutely delighted with the results.

The excess quantity (2 CP's and 1 bezel) are available, although I'll post in the For Sale section - or PM me

Wow.. those look amazing! The thought of something similar crossed my mind, but I never thought about taking them to a body shop or using basecoat/clearcoat to paint.

I just thought about patching it somehow with fiberglass, then filling, and painting, but I can't imagine a better result than what you got.

this is just a question for any outrun owner... on the plastic bezel, there is a hole in the center at the top. what was that used for?

Thanks for the comments guys - yes the bodyshop did an amazing job - as I would expect for the price!

Quite looking forward to fitting these panels to my cab as I restore it. Hopefully it should look like new.

I believe the hole in the upper centre of the bezel is to secure the bezel to an inner mount panel.....

Just a screw hole that holds the bezel in place.
