Hey Guys,

I haven't picked it up yet, but I just got a Rock-ola Eyes. Saw one listed for sale yesterday, decided to try it out on MAME and WOW what a great game, very simple yet very fun at the same time. Wasn't able to get that one, but found another that I got this morning!

Now for some question though! I can't help but notice how similar this game is to Nibbler, the layout and everything, does anyone know if its possible to make a kit where you could play both Nibbler and Eyes on the same board?

Thanks

Finally another Eyes fan. Greatest maze game ever. FYI, I vectorized the CPO for the game last year and a limited screened repro run was done by Rich. You can still pick one up on his thisoldgame site.

Yeah I'm looking into getting one of those because the control panel on the one I'm getting is actually green, which I think is a Nibbler Control panel that was put no the Rock-ola!

Its a fun addictive labyrinth game, though Berzerk is still my all time favorite!

I passed up an Eyes game about 15 years ago. It was only $150 and in good shape. Dammit I wish I would've grabbed it. Haven't seen one since...

Yeah after I played it and saw how much fun it was I just new I had to find one. The one I got needs some work, monitor needs to be capped and the controller panel is out of Nibbler I believe, but other than that its appears to be in great shape and the board works so I'm not to worried!

Congrats on getting it, have fun with it!

X2 on it being a fun game, upper levels are pretty tough too.

Yeah I'm quickly discovering that all my favorite gams are labyrinth games, excluding my NBA Showtime. I have a Centipede and Missile Command but my wife and son play those more than I do.

My top 4 games are Berzerk RC28, Berzerk RC31, Frenzy and now Eyes . . . all of which are labyrinth.

I just need to find a Nibbler now . . . .

I think the game had potential, but its lack of a timer really hinders it IMO.

I agree and disagree. I've just read an article that talks about how the lack of a timer can let players leech points on the early levels, but for me personally, if I want to have some fun but I'm too tired to play Berzerk, Eyes seems to be perfect, I can take it at my own pace without having to worry about running out of time.

I've had some fun with Eyes in MAME. Looks like a good score!

It just seems odd to release a game like this without a timer (or at least a maximum # of enemies per level). I don't ever recall seeing one BITD, but it only took a few games for me to realize I could sit on the 1st level forever should I feel inclined which I have to imagine would have been a nightmare for any operator.

you are the 4th person I've heard in the last year rave about Eyes.
heard it was a big success at trickman's annual party

I've tried playing it on the new arcadeSD and just can't get into it.

maybe hearing some game tactics would help spark some interest in the competition....

Weare talking about Eyes on the fourms .. We are wondering how rare these games really are?

I know Nibbler has quite a Following now with all the WR'S being set on the machine

I have a Jump Bug that was converted to Thrundercade .. I would like to convert it back to Rock-ola game maybe Eyes or Nibbler. But parts are really hard to come by .

I've found my playing Berzerk helped me find a groove in Eyes. I've only played I think 6 games, but I'm getting close to 100,00K.

I can't really compare it to pac-man because its not the same, that being said its not Berzerk either . . . . not really sure how to describe it.

If I had that machine I'd convert to a jump bug in a heart beat! Funny little game but I like it!

lol thats becouse you have an Eyes allready!

I'm not sure how much a stickler for authentic you are.
but if you just want a cab with nibbler.
piggyback a jamma harness, get the nibbler to jamma converter like at mike's arcade.
and i think quarter arcade still has nibbler boards. (someone mentioned ritchie k. sent his nibbler boards back to quarter arcade)

I had one running but sent it to Star Worlds arcade for their dedicated nibbler.

Nibbler demands a 4 way wico leaf switch if you want to play above wave 20.

You will master nibbler quickly and soon get bored unless you are a marathonists.
I learned it in the 80s. then this winter it only took 3 days to be able to roll the waves.
got tired of it in less than a week......

Well that is very true

Yeah I'm a bit of a stickler for the authentic cabs, mostly because I like the way that one looks. When it does pop-up on the forums for sale its usually fairly cheap so I hope to grab on soon at some point.

I like the game for the both its simplicity and its technical achievement. It was the first game I believe to have a 10 digit score but more importantly it was the first billion point game.

Also this is a little more self servering, its a game I wouldn't mind my two small kids playing, I could see them having a lot of fun with it!

funny, i learned the game from tom asaki who came here to try for that billion. ended up being my friend who took the time to do it, Tim. He still lives in the next town over.
It was Walter that set up that whole marketing thing with Rockola, and Tim went home with a brand new Nibbler which he traded to a vendor for tokens. So that machine still exists somewhere in the midwest......

I thought the kids would like it. my wife has a daycare with kids from tiny to grade school. didn't go over well after 1 game. they know the game from variations in school computer programs for practing spelling

but back to eyes- maybe you can save some online recordings of your game. i'd like to see the strategy for making the game entertaining.
