Just got home with Police 911

USPS website says my fixed board will be back from MrSinister today, I can't wait. Can someone else who owns this post a picture of the board? Mine has a heat sink and fan on the CPU that he doesn't think came like that from the factory.

My PCB's (I have two) do not have a fan. I can tell you that for sure. I do think there is a heatsink on em. I did just go out to the garagecade to see if I could get a photo of my spare but it's, evidently, out in my shed.

Everything works now thanks to MrSinister. Thanks again.

It wouldn't register shots for him and it won't register for me either, anyone know what to check? Everything else works fine, the sensor is perfect and the gun trigger works. It knows I pull the trigger but it acts like I'm not pointing the gun at the screen both in game and in the calibration from the menu.

Mine did that as well. I replaced it with a brand new HAPP gun I had sitting here and it worked great. I'm about 90% sure your optic PCB is shot in the gun. You can try to reflow the solder, but if you have a spare working HAPP gun, you can use that (but will have to hack the connector).

EDIT: THAT SAID, if it wouldn't register for him either you might want to make sure he had a known working gun. If he did, then... well... it's likely not the optic PCB.

Damn... might explain why there was a fan attached to the PCB. It's also motivating me to get off my ass and add one to mine.

The previous owner didn't mention anything about the gun not working, the fan and heat sink are definitely aftermarket. I'm thinking the chip got rattled loose either in transit from his house to mine or in the mail. I'll try pushing on the chip later and see if that helps. Knowing my luck, I'm probably fucked.

If you ever get the itch to pick up the sequel, 30fathomdave's got one for only $100...

Granted, it's way the hell out here in AZ...

There's a local place here that operates games at all kinds of different locations, they fix them on the side also. He's gonna have his tech swing by and check it out sometime today and possibly bring it back to their place if need be. I'm gonna start looking for a new board too, just in case. I'd hate to part it out, it looks like a really fun game.

Who is swinging by?
Somebody from B&T?
Somebody from ADI?
Be careful and realize that these guys are in it to make a buck, and you are not.

Don't blow a bunch of money on a game that you're only slightly interested in or are just planning to flip.

I really need to get you out to the shed and give you the 50 cent tour. You might get encouraged and see that games are out there even if it is a little dry right now.

That damned facebook group spreads the news fast and bumps up the demand. Hard to snag a deal if there are salivating vultures perched all around.

Bailey & sons out of Leesville, they had to come to my side of town anyways. MrSinister is digging through his spare boards too trying to get me back going. I don't mind putting some more money into it, I'm more excited about it now that it mostly works. It looks like a lot of fun to play. I would love to come check out the shed, just pm me whenever you're up for it.

The quick reality of your situation:

The game IS fun. But is it long-term fun? Welp, I am finding out myself.
The game is huge. As such, selling it will be difficult. You will likely either have to part it out or sell it stupid-cheap. Option A might recoup your dough... Option B certainly will not.

Choose wisely. If you have the room... go for it. If you're filling fast, you might want to reconsider throwing more money in to it.

Just one man's opinion.

I met him once. He was selling off some modern parts/pieces a couple of years ago. Mostly Cruisin' stuff and such.

I have plenty of room left in the garage and I don't have much invested in it so far. If I can it going for cheap I'll do it, if not oh well, I'll part it out. I have 4 kids and they have a lot of friends, it'll get plenty of use. If I end up losing a few bucks then that's just the cost of a lesson learned.

Got the new board in the mail and it's doing exactly the same thing :(

MrSinister tested it in his and it worked before he sent it so I know it's gotta be something on my end

WHEEE, glad that worked out for you. It will see lots of play.

Let's hope so. To me Police 911 is more interesting than most rail shooters as you can play for rank and actually use the motion sensors to dodge bullets. Now if you could just find or get a repo of that floor mat everything would be complete.
