Just got back in from picking up my very best Craigslist find

This is awesome cause it's something common that I've been looking for. I basically traded a pretty worthless 3 mpix digital camera ($30 checked via ebay) for a Dynamo HS1 19" SF2. The cab is mostly in ok condition although some corners are chipped and it's painted flat black on the sides. The wells 19" is bright but very fuzzy. I'll take some pics when I get home to to see what the source of it may be. I tried to focus on the flyback but that's not it.

Even though my camera was in mint condition with all the box and docs, it's 7 years old and in very little use so it was almost a free pickup for me.

It's SF2 WW inside and I'll try to restore the look of it to match the original although I won't run that board inside. Maybe a blue elf or a multi CPS2 system.

It needs a patch/paint job, CPO, Monitor rebuild?, Marquee replaced, T-molding,

Pix to come.

Arm~

Not a bad deal at all-- good for you!!
I wish I could have scored that free Omega Race cab (that now works, thanks Alan, lucky you! :) ).

more pics

I'll probably repost this in the monitor thread to see how to fix it.

now you've got a 19" dynamo to match you're MK? Cool. As for the monitor, it simply looks like the Focus needs to be adjusted.

Edit: whoops, thought you were someone else. Got your cab confused with one Frizz posted in another thread.

Give the monitor a good wipe down to, I had so much build up on my Golden Tee I could barely see through. Gotta see clear to adjust any way. Nice score.

The marquee light board was loose and leaned forward so far that the incandescent lights burned the marquee. It's all wrinkled up.

I want to restore it to fully look like an original SF2 WW but then play multiple games in the end. I'll start cleaning it up once the kids go down tonight and I'll check out the monitor more.

Bezel looks decent and a marquee should be super easy to score. I bought a SF2 CE, SF2 HF and SSF2 marquees a while back from 71Cutlass I'm sure he should have a few of these SF2 WW ones. First thing I would do would be to wipe down the monitor and see how bad the focus issue is. How does the CPO look underneath the plexi? If the CPO sucks I would put that Gray speckled CPO and turn into a SFCE or the Diamond plate and make it a SSF2. Still have any of those? :) If the focus knob on the flyback doesn't work make sure the neckboard is on the tube securely, you should do a recap and replace the flyback if the recap doesn't do the trick.

Bezel too faded for my standards. I'll update all of the art yes to SF2 era so the diamond won't be used in favor for the gray speckled ones that I have 2 left in inventory for this very purpose.

I removed all of the layers and the monitor was covered with black dust but at the end of the flyback focus adjustment its still an issue.

Wells 7401 series

Could it need a flyback or a cap kit. The colors seem bright and clean, it just really seems out of focus.

During screen transitions it it does get more clear for just a moment as it's transitioning but at still screens I can't get it in clear focus.

I got this in South San Jose as he had no pics and then mentioned that he could use a digital camera. I offered the spare old 8 year old one that I had and he bit at it.

Ok..

Hmmm...I wonder who got that SF II that was on the Sacramento CL today for $50..??

Looked like a hell of a deal for someone...decent looking cab...

I saw that too but really don't need another game right now. Looked like a good deal though.

that's pretty much identical symptoms on the cabinet i'm picking up tomorrow, and suggestions in the Monitors Forum figured that if it wasn't dirt or focus adjustment it's probably the flyback going bad.

i'll let you know what i find out my monitor problem if you don't solve yours first. probably won't have time to dig into it until Monday at the earliest anyway.

Basically as far as I understand the focus is only controlled by the flyback, the wire going to the neckboard socket, and possibly I've heard that one cap on the neckboard can affect focus adjustments. If you can't get it to focus in right, sounds like it needs a new flyback. I'm ASSUMING that's a K7000 in there, very easy to work on.

Monitor issues

It's a WG 19K7901.

Oddly that wire from the flyback to the neckboard was cut and re-soldered together.
I'll look for a flyback and cap kit just to do since I'll have to pull the monitor board anyways to replace the flyback.

Is a 7901 just the same as a 7000 series... time to start posting in the monitor section.

On some K7000's, it's hard to remove the wire from the neck socket. Someone probably replaced the flyback at one time, and just spliced it into that wire, which is why it's been soldered together. It's not the best way to do it, and might be part of the focus issue your'e having.

just opened up my new Carnevil and found a WG K7400. i did get it to focus but it's still got an obviously cracked flyback and it's pretty dim. if you can't get it to focus between all the various adjustments i'd definitely suggest a new fly and cap kit.
