Just got a big order from Bob Roberts.. What to do?

What better way to spend your last Friday off before going back to school? Just kick out rebuilding the trackball unit on Mom's favorite game (Millipede) as a suprise. Myles is doing all the work himself, Dad is just giving direction.. 7 years old and my kid is already a bad a$$ collector...

He already craves going on road trips for games, throws parties in his arcade (like his last birthday), and is always willing to lend a hand or go grab tools.

That's awesome that he's helping out. My son is 6, and enjoys playing the games, but isn't focused enough to do any work with me yet. Enjoy!

I'm reeeeeally hoping my Bob Roberts package arrives today. I'd like the weekend to do some solderin'...

Yeah, I was thrilled to get mine. Hopefully, I got enough cap kits and ARII rebuilds to keep me busy. Pole Position is going to get the last pieces it needs to finish the bullet-proofing I'm finishing on it before going down to The Garcade. 5 monitor rebuilds on the docket...

and Adamzero can attest to my son's enthusiasm for the hobby.. I traded him my Elevator Action, and had to buy another one because my kid was so upset about it. :D

Writing up a Bob Roberts order right now........
I hooked up a k7197 without an iso and must backtrack my progress on that chassis. Arrival days are a mini Christmas every time....

Seriously, your son is the future tech to keep these going. I would totally get him his own multimeter and start putting together a little tool kit for him.

Do you let him adjust yokes and the screen controls with the game on yet? j/k, I've gotten zapped that way, once was enough.

That's really cool..too many kids these days only know XBox, cartoons, etc.. and aren't learning hands-on skills type things when they're little.

This is a great idea! I've got two sons and started buying them tools the week they were born. They got a new tool for every birthday, Christmas, Easter, etc and now each has a fully stocked rolling chest. It's not expensive if you shop on sale, I joined the Craftsman Club and bought ahead when things were discounted.

Father & son projects are so important, keep it up!

Yep, tool kit is already started. I don't know crap about things like car engines, but with an Electrical Engineering degree, I hope to give him as much knowledge and inspiration as possible. It's just one of many hobbies he and I currently share. I'm taking advantage of it as long as I can before he turns into a teenager and starts hating me... ;) lol

And here he is doing the rebuild itself. Funny, the screwdriver was the Langenpipe I got from Bob. My son promptly claimed ownership of it and was so proud to be able to use it right away.
