Just got a Baby Pac, need to fix

I've played Baby Pac a few times recently and also played back in the 80s. I never knew you could earn power pellets in the pinball part. In fact, it was one of the main reasons I never really got into it. I always thought the video part was lame because it was just a simple maze and the pinball part was okay but mediocre compared to full-out pins. The fact that you earn stuff in the videogame part by playing pinball completely redeems the game for me (and makes me feel like an idiot for not figuring that out). I'm sure its probably somewhere in the intstructions but have a bad habbit of not reading that sort of thing until after I've played a game 30 times.

Nice game. Good luck on getting it running!

HAA HAA, yah the game would really suck if you couldn't get power pellets!

So the other day I ordered the monitor cap kit from Bob, and I am going to order all the header pins and connectors. Zork40 did this a few years ago and I noticed that in the comments that he replaced the electrolytic caps on the vidiot board too.

Is that something that I should order too? I was looking at the vidiot last night and I only saw like 3 or 4 electrolytic caps on the vidiot, and one gigantic one.

How far do I need to go on this? replace every connector and every header pin?

baby pac repairs

Dokert is right if the vidiot is working which it appears to be don't mess with it beyond reflowing the pins.

I am by no means an expert but have repaired 5 or so baby pace over the years.

1. Eliminate the stupid...pull and test all fuses. Doesn't matter if they look good.
2. Remove mpu battery, look for and fix corrosion. Do repair kit if any damage
3. Reflow all pins on all boards
4. Slide all the connector covers off and push the wires in better in see any are loose
5. Clean and reseat all chips
6. Add a lithium battery and blocking diode to the mpu

The mpu blinks once fast then once slow then I think 5x. You can get the meaning of each flash on the Marvin - pinwiki site. I'm typing from my phone...I can find you the link later if needed.

Good. Luck!

ps....

It does have a freeplay mode so you can remove that switch on the front. It's also not a freeze screen freeplay to ruin your monitor...just the words freeplay at the bottom of the screen.

I may have a start button for you or at least an Atari one you can paint silver. I'll look later today.

so...

How are you making out with the Baby Pacman?

I pm'ed you that I have the start buttons if you wanted them but you didn't respond...

if you were near me i'd offer to do the headers for you. dunno why but I enjoy rebuilding/replacing headers plugs.
