This is my first time doing a tube swap. I replaced a Zenith tube(red gun dead) with a
Phillips/Magnavox tube. And it works, giving me that good feeling. O.K. so here's the deal,
I have all colors now,but the screen has color splotches. ? Does this need degaussed or I'm
I going to have to play with the rings on the yoke. I hope it just needs degaussed. Here's some pics. Thanks Long Hair.

Does your MK board have a tests mode? That looks like the reings/yoke may need adjustment to me. I don't see splotches, I see discoloration bands but it may just be the pics you posted.

Few more pics, this is all I have.

OK, I posted before your second post.

I'd try a degauss first and then see where you are. I'd expect the picture to be more distorted if this was a problem with the yoke/rings.

So I need to invest in a degauss stick or coil?

Yeah just get a good degaussing coil. Going from the pics you posted it looks like it COULD be a degaussing issue. You can try turning the game 90degrees to see if the discoloration changes at all, but that doesn't always work.

BTW, what chassis are you using with that tube? That is the exact same model of tv, and I'm almost 100% sure tube, that I have used for a direct tube swap for WG K7000's.

you stole the tube from a TV? (i didn't know you could do that!!) Love your discharge stick btw.

The Chassis is a Wei-Ya 425H replacment for the WG K7000.Here's a Pic.

update

When I first tested the monitor I had the cab facing south. Then I moved it back against the wall facing east, and now I only have a little spot in the upper Left hand corner. Weird.

Not really, the Earths magnetic fields effect color monitors and it's not unusual at all to have it change depending on which way it faces. If you put it where you want it and turn the game off for a while and back on the degauss built in the monitor should take care of it. - Barry

tube swap

I just did a tube swap yesterday in a robotron. Looking at your pictures, YES! you need to play with the rings to get the convergence correct. Degausser will not help aside from some minor blotching. You have to align the rings correctly so that the red, blue and green guns are hidden in the grid lines and make white! Now, if you swapped the yoke, you may not get it exactly perfect. However, you should get most of your lines hidden to your liking. If not satisfied with the results, you will have to get magnetic strips and slide them under the yoke to align the guns. (NOT WORTH DOING THIS). I aligned the tube colors pretty well yesterday and the robotron looks fantastic.

My opinion is that the tube needs degaussing.

If the convergence were off badly, the white lines in the test mode wouldn't appear white.

Look closely

If you look closely at the grid pattern, you could see a tadd off the white mark. This is usually due to the convergence not lining up properly. Magnetic strips would make it perfect, but takes some time. As long as you get it closer, it should be fine.

I have a ?. This Cabinet in setting right beside My Pinball Machine(next project). If and when I get the monitor lined out, is the transformer in the back box of the pin goes to screw with the monitor again? I believe the transformer makes a magnetic field right?
