I also noticed a large number of posts on these forums about multiboards, and it bothered me. I see some people that buy a cab with a bad board, put a multi in it, and say it's as good as new without trying to fix the original board. That pisses me off. I have seen some pretty good multi-setups such as the smash-tv/total carnage cab of fatherpain's that I helped him setup, but that cab has a 2-way jamma adapter, so no wires were cut, and no holes drilled. Plus, it has the original boards of both games inside. That, I am fine with. I have been fixing up a centipede recently (yes, I know it's a common game). I don't even really like centipede, and know I could buy a working one on the cheap, but I still put in a new monitor, bought UOS bezel, monitor surround, board, ar2, marquee, and control panel for it to get it back to an original state. I still need some wiring for it, and I need to strip the sides to see if the art underneath needs to be replaced. But, I still am doing it regardless of people saying it's not worth the trouble.
I feel the same way... from the fist few lines anyway...
At one time I considered putting a multi in a gyruss or vanguard... but thought the better of it.
I partly made the original post cuz there's some dude- out there- Not part of KLOVland- who 'hellcaded' an asteroids deluxe cab with a 60 in 1...
My feeling is if you are gonna do that - preserve the outside ya know? At LEAST with one of the games- in the set. And NOT add extra controls. I understand boards and whatnot fail... re-wiring has to be done... hell- I jamma'd my EA (Elevator Action- now a taito 3 in 1 + moon patrol harness... homemade- for a 4th 'horizontal original hardware'- next on list) but it will remain- as such original as possible otherwise...

Spy Hunter Update... transformer block- rebuilt. New rebuilt working power supply pcb- added. Tron boards work in it, the original SH's... don't. Voltages- in range as they should be. We're up to a green, purple, and white checkerboard screen... as noted in RGVAC land this is a 'reset' issue... they claim. Same thing happens in a working tron game with proper 'reset circuitry' so... not buying that one. In fact the tron makes it go to a 'white screen' and passes POST (power on self test).
I'm still in need of some MCR PCB repair love from a good tech now... fo sho! I Asked then in '07- no dice... 2010? Lets talk... dont make me send these off to eldorado and be swapped for 'non-original' boards... I guess I gotta consult with the folks at Chicago Pinball Expo next month if no love comes forth- first... hopefully hyperball makes an appearance- Steve Ritchie is- anyway...
Calling mr dookert and Williams crew- I need some power pcb work done if y'all have some time and thanks on a couple of Williams power pcb's... don't make me go switcher!
