Just Bought DK Jr. -- Need Restoration Help!!

alright well, I got the priming done! I'll get some pics up tomorrow.

I now am in the market for a spare orange DK jump button....would anyone happen to have one laying around (preferably original)?

Almost 2 months after my last post I've finally had some free time this past week to get some serious work done! :)

All that's left to do is some touch up painting and the entire coin-door, anyone know where I can pick up some good dk jr. coin mechs?

Also, I couldn't decide whether or not to get a new monitor bezel...any opinions?

Comments/criticism wanted -- my first resto :p

Here are some pictures, not sure how well they will display on different screens but the color is very accurate in person:

That turned out really nice. Huge improvement over the first pic in your original post! It's hard to tell from the pictures, but your bezel looks good to me. Did you end up using that latex primer, and if so, did it adhere okay?

Sadly they didnt have that at my local Home Depot so I went ahead and used the regular BEHR Interior Enamel primer.

It worked pretty well, here is a pic.

Does the marquee look bright enough? I have two 8inch lights connected side by side instead of one longer one.

HEY NICE JOB Broseph123! You did a good job judging by the pics, you should be proud!
Hard to tell what condition your bezel is in? I'd keep it as long as it doesn't have a BUNCH of deep scratches that can't be buffed out.
I know twistedquarter sells a couple different kind of roll down coin mecs....I like this one....

Thanks, I had a bit of trouble using the Bondo but it turned out ok in the end :)

Those coin mechs look great, I may have to order myself a pair! The bezel does have several scratches in it but I havent tried buffing them out yet....if that doesn't work I'll eventually throw down the money for a new one. For now it gets the job done :D

A problem I had forgotten about is with the brightness of the monitor.

When I turn it on (after being off for 5+ minutes or so) all the colors are very vibrant, however, after about 3-6 minutes the screen will have gotten much darker.

Is this a problem with the Caps on the monitor or do I need to fiddle with the pots?

I think those are cheap junk mechs.I would never put those on my DK.
I would either buy new faceplates, real Asahi mechs or paint the original faceplates.
I don't think buffed ones look right on a DK.
Some guys use a silver type paint.
If you contact Mike Sparto @ Asahi Seiko he might sell you just the faceplates without the $50 minimum order. It is worth a try.He has done it for other guys.
