made it back 4hr road trip, found a pretty nice Jurrasic park home use pin, dusty as hell and has a glitch to figure out

going into the purchase I new the T-Rex has the usual problems and not working and a weak right flipper, game has been off for months it wont boot up very far.

powers up fine, display never changes past the image below, guy claimed it was doing the start up procedure as it popped t-rex's teeth. and no sound, speaker is buzzing very low.

we coined up and played but no score on the reader.

tried the test mode but could not see the text, it went through the solenoid test and popped the field.......

led's on the main board cycle seem to cycle right and stay on with no flashing indicating a problem, +5 is lit

anyway need to investigate some and see whats up, going to reseet the chips first, guy seemed honest and was blown away it was sick, he claimed it has always worked fine.

picked it up for 7 bones, pretty jacked as the play field and cab are a 9.8,
great score for the NW lots of pin heads around so nothing is cheap!

looks like it needs the rom updates as well.

anyway if you recognize the symptom some feedback would be cool.

pictures so it did happen.......

Peace, B

There are several threads here on fixing the T-Rex, and the flippers, those should be "easy" fixes. Several people on the forum have fixed those issues, so there is plenty of information on those issues. The display issue sounds like the display controller is not getting past the boot screen. You may have a bad ribbon cable that runs to that display.

Keep us posted.

just getting in from the garage long day at work and forgot my newly downloaded manual at work, DOH!. yea i am cool with rex and the flipper easy stuff...just need the sucker to booooooot.

so did some quick searches and poking around tonight, re seated everything on the cpu, i saw the ribbon cable note tonight on a thread will check that tomorrow....just poking around voltages seem a tad low, 4.87 and 17. something for the 18....need the manual bad to go at this properly, was hoping for the wiggle and re-seat fix but no luck..... nothing looks smoked or bulging so far....

oh what is the "back box" I see referred to and the 18V it needs to pass along, kinda sounds like my issue, did a couple searches hoping for a photo and came up blank...is it part of the power supply board top left in the cab?, the guide online makes it sound like its burried out of sight?

tired and rambling now...lol and I closed all my windows I had open on posts, pretty sure it said C5, i found that bottom left on the card but no fuse or spot to really take a reading of 18V just a couple connectors landed right there

never mind found the back box in the manual.......hopefully tonight I can figure it out.

Looks like the usual DE stuff, power supply board looks to be junk going to double check some of the connectors between it and the transformer but it looks to be dead,

broken fuse holders, and the T-Rex is dead so far, cleaned the contacts and the right flipper is back in action......

going shopping tomorrow for parts, do you guys have a preference on a new style power supply board?

I was looking at the X-Pin unit and the Pin Core unit, both look like they are made decent and claim to not run hot and hold a solid plus 5, both are 129.00

this is my first repair job on a pin been lucky to wax and rubber them is all, going to be fun cleaning this one up.

Hello friend.
I have had my JP for years now. Had problems like yours. Rotten dog power supply fixed my problem. Plug and play man. Also make sure the roll over switch is working in the first two drop holes to the left. If it's not working then your game will not advance as you go. I have had a bunch of pinball games, but will never sell the JP it's a blast. Good find and good luck.

Actually the DE Power Supply is pretty easy to repair, not much to go wrong. If you have a meter and can check the voltages relative to the schematic it should be pretty easy to see what isn't working. Also, don't forget to look on Ebay for a used one, they are pretty cheap.

broken fuse holders,
Yup. Replace them all now, otherwise you will be replacing them one at a time until they are all done.

and the T-Rex is dead so far,
First Check in the Adjustments menu and see if he is turned on, or off. Next use the diagnostics to see if he will move at all, center him(her?) and then see if he(she?) moves at all. T-Rex will not bend down unless the "center" switch is on, so see if you can center him(her) to set that switch, and then test the up/down motion. You can turn off the left/right motion and just have the up/down (the really cool part). If the left/right motion just goes one direction, there is a reversing relay under middle of the playfield that will need to have all of the solder connections re-flowed. Rarely the issue is the motors, most of the T-Rex problems are wires or solder joints.

cleaned the contacts and the right flipper is back in action......
Sweet, you may want to rebuild the flippers with new switches once you have the rest working, for now that was an easy fix.

Good Luck, Keep us posted
