Jurassic Park ramp question

Especially if you have more than one game, I like this Big Box o' Rubber Rings from Pinballlife.

It's 27.00 and comes with a crap-ton of rings, flipper rubbers, post sleeves, shooter tips - essentially everything.

Enough for like 3 games.

Just got my EOS replacements and I am ready to install. I got them from pinball life. Are they supposed to be closed? The two parallel pieces are touching. Is this right?

Thanks

Yes, they are normally closed. There should be red plastic covers over the end of the bolt that tightens the clamp on the flipper's rod. This red cover opens the EOS switch when the flipper is at the end of its stroke.

Best picture that I have, sorry, it is a pre-rebuild, but you should get the idea.

Yes, the points are closed, and should be opened about 1/8" when the flipper is energized.

Yes, I got it installed and it fixed my problem of the raptor firing a ball and it knocking down the flipper. I did notice in test the back part of the eos slightly touches the spring when it is fully engaged. Not sure how I could make it so they did not touch.

Anyone know where to get more of the red caps?

Thanks

i'm missing one of the big silver lights that shine on T-rex. see the attached pic, the circled light. i've poked at the normal pin supply resource websites but found nothing to replace it. i *know* they're available, as i've seen them on TSPP, IJ4, etc., but i can't find them on the normal pinball light supply sites. can somebody point me to where they can be purchased, please? preferably at pinball life, since i have a pending order with terry...

also, i'm ready to start work on T-rex. the problem with him is that he will get centered and chomp the ball, but when he raises up, the ball never comes out of the bottom of his mouth. he chomps and chomps but it never quite goes down his throat. it's like he's just not quite tipped back far enough. anybody else have this problem?

thanks in advance (once again :))...

I remember reading that there was a rubber stop that was somewhere and it made the dino's mouth tilt back enough that the ball would roll back so it could "swallow" it. I can't remember if it was discussed here or on RGP. And I haven't personally looked for it on my machine because I haven't had this problem.

I did some searching for the T-Rex swallowing problem and couldn't find a definitive answer. A few people mentioned the connecting bar from the coil being broken and re-welded the incorrect length. A few people mentioned the wiring keeping the dino from coming fully upright. I guess I'd start there. If I find anything else, I'll post it.

thanks for poking at it stangbat. i haven't started poking myself (have a home disaster to deal with today and likely into tomorrow - leaking water heater ><), but will soon...

I juess that I have been lucky since T-REX has always swallowed on my machines. Just thinking about possibilities since I have just rebuilt him (her?). There is a rubber bumper (like under the plunger of the VUK) that is at the base of the T-Rex. But that would make the dino stand up straighter if it is missing, of course if a wrong (thicker) one was there, he (she?) would not lean back far enough to swallow. I have heard of the linkage being broken to the point that the chomp will not work correctly, but appears to work because you can see movement. I have also heard of the solenoid wires being broken and working intermittently. There is also a rivet that holds the jaw plastic on the lower jaw. If that was replaced with a pop-rivet, or nut and bolt, that might be an obstruction that could kep him from swallowing as well.

Good Luck with that hot water heater, that is just a little more important than T-Rex.

Just starting to re-rubber the JP. My tear-down notes are incomplete. I will try and get a better rubber ring chart up this weekend. Until then, take the previous list with a grain of salt, I keep finding more errors with the list in the manual and with my notes as well... Bummer.

OK - looking forward to your ring chart...

Good luck with the water heater. If you don't have one already, make sure one of those catch pans with a drain is installed under the new one.

Funny thing, my dino didn't "swallow" on a recent game. First time I remember that happening. It seemed to work fine every time after that, but I was thinking, "Great, after saying I've never had this problem, I'm now going to be fighting it."

BTW, System Failure in JP is really cool. You'll love it when you get it. I reached it for the first time last Saturday and the second time last night. The funny thing is that despite two System Failures where every switch is worth 1 million and six balls flying around, I still didn't beat my previous high score that was achieved without a System Failure.

i've gotten system failure once. got a score around 420M. it's pretty cool :)...

May as well include my new problem on this thread. Now my dino is no longer chomping when all the way down. It has to be a break in the wiring. I can lower it in the test mode and once it gets a ways down it will no longer chomp. Looks like I'll be doing some messing around and soldering tomorrow. Wouldn't want a day to go by without soldering something. ;)

dang - i probably hexed you by posting my T-rex problem. hope you figure it out quickly!

Sounds like the wire going to the solenoid is broken :(
