Jurassic Park ramp question

Maybe everyone should own a JP. It seems like there is always so much to learn from fixing them. My first pin was a JP and from the beginning I had to start learning about how to fix pins. Not a bad thing in my opinion. Now when I get a new pin I know what to look for and how to fix it. Thank god for forums and pinrepair site. Gives you the confidence to keep going. Love the fact that there are so many others that are out there to help others and keep this alive.

If you fixed your T-Rex, pop bumpers should be a breeze. Soldering on the boards was the scariest thing for me, but after some practice it was not that bad.

Just cleaned my left flipper contacts. Someone filed them off and I need to replace them to make them more reliable.

they're not popping so much. the coils are good - they all pop nicely on the diagnostic; it's the skirts or something else...

You probably just need to adjust and clean the contacts on the switch blades underneath them. I use a business card wetted with alcohol to clean the contacts as Clay recommends on pinballninja.com. The problem could also be that the spoons are worn through so double check them too.

First follow stangbat's suggestions on cleaning the contacts, and then buy yourself a switch adjusting tool, it is one of the best pinball tools made, and adjust the switch points so they make contact when the skirt is slightly pushed. Then try them in a game to see how they respond. NEVER adjust the switch contacts with the power on (you can fry your switch matrix this way). If that fixes the problem, great, if not, then you will want to rebuild the pops, new coil sleeves, new spoons, new skirts, new lower spring, new upper springs, new bodies, new switches, heavy duty bulbs, and clean up all of the dirt and crud on all of the rest of the parts. It sounds more difficult than it is, just leave one of the pops assembled so you can refer to where the parts go when you are rebuilding one of the others.

good advice, both of you. two of the skirts need replacing, since they are chewed up around the edges, so i'm going to replace all 3 to keep them all looking the same. i have the parts on order from pinballlife (along with new rubbers and the EOS switch).

what's the best source for a switch adjustment tool? i don't see one at pinballlife...

I have heard of people making their own by taking a cutoff wheel in a dremel and making a slot in an allen wrench. Never tried that.

I am replacing the EOS switch on the left side that was hacked. Does anyone know off hand the color of the two wires that connect to it?

THanks

Left flipper is blue-gray and brown-gray
Right flipper is blue-violet and brown-violet

another question...

my playfield has a small hole above the divider between the left outlane and flipper lane. on the right side there is a post there, but not on the left - just a hole. is there supposed to be a post there? the ball does drain down that left outlane a lot...

I read on RGP that during gameplay testing, DE decided that a post was not needed in that location and it wasn't installed. The playfield is still dimpled during manufacturing because that is how they set up the jig.

Weird, mine has a post on both sides....I would think it would drain left all the time without that post...

It doesn't surprise me that you have one installed. I installed the post on mine because I got tired of the left lane drains. Purists would have my head. But my game is in the home and played by my wife and kids. The intent is to have a fun game, not one that eats quarters and makes money for Ops. I find it more enjoyable to play with the post installed.

Even the manual shows a "D" in that location for the 3/16" ID ring that goes on that post....
