While playing some JP tonight, I hit the ball into the mode start and nothing happened. The mode didn't start and the ball just sat in there until the ball search kicked in and popped it out. I opened up the machine and found this:

That white wire there by the solenoid is just hangin' out. The only problem is that I'm not sure what it should be attached to. Looks like it might belong up in that pink sleeve. Anyone know for sure?

To the left of the green wire in the pink sleeve, or to the left of the green wire on the right side of the photo?

Look at some other switches in your game. They are wired the same. Simple. It does NOT go to the leg that is the common leg. Look at the switch itself, it is marked with NO, NC, and C.

blitz_8255 is right...

Thanks for the help guys, works great again. Sometimes I just want to be absolutely sure before I create a bigger mess.

You have just experienced one of the most common problems with JP out in the field when it was originally released (according to many ops and techs). The constant impact and vibration of the balls hitting this area caused the diode and/or wires to break off the rollover switch. When this happens, no mode will advance.

That's why the globs of silicone are there - to try and keep the diode in place.

Not a robust design.

Here's some useful reference photos:
