Jurassic Park Flipper issues

I'm new to DE games and the addition of the fliptronics board is confusing the hell out of me, especially since the flippers have EOS switches as well.

On game start all is fine till I fire the right flipper. The upper flipper works fine but the lower flipper is staying up and energized.

EOS is fine. I'm waiting on a replacement manual since the PDF online is a pain to read at the machine but I was hoping one of you folks might have a clue where to start?
 
There are two leaf switches under the button on that side.

Make sure they are working correctly, there is a switch test mode that can help with this.

May also be a flaky transistor on the flipper control board, which is mounted on the left side of the cabinet.

With the power on, when you hit the flipper button, there should be a brief LED flash for each flipper - you can see it through the open coin door.

Is the flipper binding mechanically when it stays up or is it electrical/electronic?

Switches test good, and I do see a flicker on the 2 led's for the right flippers flash when the flipper switch is pressed. (the led for the dead left flipper doesn't light though, but that's a separate issue). It's definitely not holding mechanically, it's the coil that is energized. None of the drive transistors seem to test bad on the flipper board.

This whole pin is a basket case. The guy bought it at auction and I think it was one of those OP "let's just put stuff in it to light things up and get it sold" kinda deals.

No CPU driven lights right now, a few burnt connectors for the GI (changed), TONS of hacks and splices, only 2 screws holding in each PCB, the list goes on :)

I told the guy it's going to cost him a ton to get this going with labor, etc, but he's adamant he really wants it done.
 
OK, pull the flipper board out and test all of the transistor with your DMM.

It's very possible one or more of the drive or pre-drive transistors are bad/going bad.

It's also and excellent time to check all of the fuse clips while the board is out.

DE was notorious for crappy fuse clips that will look fine but if you press down firmly on either end of the fuse, the clip will split and "Y" out. If this happens, fuse clips must be replaced. This should be checked on all DE boards if you are having issues.

I also re-flow the solder on the backs of the header pins and check for continuity on the traces.

Im having the opposite issue well kind opposite issue on a Gnr machine. MY right flipper engages once the game starts and then blows a fuse. It has a new rottendog board installed.

Anyways its at a customers house. I sent him another new rottendog board and new leaf switch for each side. The EOS's were new and good. Ill let you know if its the cabinet switches.

I probably don't have to say it, but there is a short to ground somewhere in that circuit.

Usually I'd suspect the big TIP36C on the flipper board, but it could also be bad wiring somewhere.
