Are the lights in the backbox supposed to light up only at a certain time while playing or should they be on while in attract mode? I'm guessing they should be on most of the time, but mine never seem to be on.

Mine turn off while the "welcome to jurassic park" video plays right after pressing start, then flash quite frequently during various points during the game.

A similar question I have - the two red lights above the "gate" plastic to jurassic park (at the entry of the ramp) never seem to turn on - at all. Do these turn on frequently, or just during a certain portion of the game?

If I remember correctly, they only light during the modes where you are supposed to shoot the ramp such as Bone Busting. So you don't see them lit very often.

So they do light up during attract mode? Hmmm... more to check.
Yes, they should be on all the time during attract. The connector and pins at J5 on the PPB burn all the time on DE games. You may have to replace the connector and repair cold solder joints on the PPB.

Well last week, I bought a Jurassic Park and the backbox light was not working. My problem was that the connector CN8 on the Power Supply Board was all burn. I replaced that connector and the backbox cameback to life !

Yep, CN8 is burned to a crisp. Nice call. I'll have to find someplace with another one. Is it called anything special?

I replace the original IDC or IDT connector by a crimping one ! I use some trifurcon pins wich are better.

read there for more info http://www.pinrepair.com/connect/#intro
you will need some .156 size one for that connnector if I can remember !

I forgot to mention CN8, sorry! I've had to replace several of those in DE machines.

Great Plains Electronics is an awesome source for parts. Ed ships very quickly and only charges actual shipping costs.

Get 0.156 header pins, Molex 41695 Series connectors, and 0.156 crimp contacts as well as a crimping tool. Also, check pinrepair for commonly needed parts and order a few while you are at it.

I was working on a JP and the red gate lights were never lit during attract. Only came on a few times during game when you needed to hit the ramp.

Got some crimp single female connectors and attached each wire to each pin which will hold me until the more permanent solution. Backbox came alive! You're not kidding that you don't need all of the bulbs back there. I took out six so far and it's still lit up a ton. Thanks for the help.
