Rtc Dead upon arrival, called Ken at IrepairSega got new RTC. Installed RTC, main board already had a socket installed, easy install. Game then turns on, and boots properly. Game coins up and guns work fine. However, at the third scene, when the dinosaurs come out it freezes. It will just stay there for a long while and reset to the attract screen. I got Ken to send me another CF card thinking it might be the game data, and the same problem happens. Got some new CF card adapters and tried both ports and no matter what combination i use the same problem persists. This is a beautiful cab and I am a big Jurassic Park Fan... Give me something! Worst case scenario, I'll convert the cab to another shooter, But I have a five already shooters, but none of them shoot dinosaurs...so there's that. UGH. Any ideas?

After, now a year of research, still nothing. However, I discovered that by unplugging the second harness just prior to the scene where the game freezes, it lets the small dinos run off and actually lets the raptor attack me. Plugging the second harness back in at that point and viola! rest of the game played through just fine. I am now looking at that second harness and specifically the audio... My machine has a preamp card hanging inside the monitor cage and there is not one single reason i can think to have it there. Amplify the sound? It is so loud at half volume that you can't even be in the same room. Looking at the warzaid manual, which is as close to JP3 as possible, it has direct connection to the speakers. the sound in the game is relatively quiet up until the point that the first raptor comes out... wonder if the amplifier/preamp is shorting and causing the error... sound ridiculous? I agree!

Wow, good update.

Just guns (some of it) and sound on the second connector.

I just have the PCB and I run it right to the speakers. I'll see if I can dig up my JP3 manual to see what it says.

I'd try to by pass the card and see if that fixes your problem.

It might also be worth checking the voltages on the game when you get that far and see where they are at.

Edit took nearly my whole lunch hour to find the JP3 manual... it was not with the rest of them. I came across the WARZAID manual while looking. In the wiring schematics of both Warzaid and JP3, it is directly from the second jamma connector to the speakers. Would you mind posting pictures of what you are talking about in your cab?

Viper is a super weird system. Fighting with a Silent Scope EX currently. One thing for you, what is the 5vdc measuring at JAMMA in to Game Bd? I am seeing weird voltage issues with the one I am working on. I usually run them at around 5.15 here with no issues.

Okay... I have concluded that this is probably a solder joint somewhere. If the game is allowed to heat up, then it will work most of the time. I need to find someone to do a reflow on the board, which is risky to ship.... I'm not so sure I can do it in my shop.

GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ........ Okay... over two years on this thing...

I finally bought another JP3 working board and everything. So at least I can play. But, having a second board for diagnostics has been helpful, also, I now have a dedicated arcade repair spot with air conditioning!!!!!

So... above updates are correct, EXCEPT, the heat does not help, I though it was, but it wasn't. Ken and I had gone through a lot diagnostics to no avail. I put the old board in yesterday just to tinker and was adjusting the screen when the screen went black. I thought the chassis had gone bad, but it turned out to be the JP3 PCB. when allowed to play through attract mode it always freezes ant the INGEN screen, then it stays stuck on for about three minutes then the board resets/powers down and restarts. I tried all the cf cards, card adapters, both slots, every combination and they all do the exact same thing. I'm just updating for anyone's future reference. Also, Ken if you want a crack at this board you are welcome to it, the one I had shipped to me off of ebay was packed in a gigantic box with tons of packing paper/bubble wrap/foam board. I will happily send this board to you just to put this all to bed and be able to put a big SOLVED on this forum entry.... then I'll have an extra board, which would not hurt my feelings at at all!!!
