Jungle King Talk

They were threatened with being sued, so they changed a couple of minor things, the differences are insignificant.

There is no Tarzan Yell. You call that insignificant? Look at the marquee and bezel on Jungle Hunt. Whore-i-bull.

I remember playing this regularly back in 1982 when it came out. I only remember playing Jungle King, not Jungle Hunt. I thought the Tarzan yell was pretty cool at the time. I think I was able to save the girl in the first two levels and after that it was too hard and i lost interest. I probably played it for a few months and then moved on to other games. Back then it seemed that every time you went to the arcade there was a new game out.

Is this a game I would actively seek out as a collector? Probably not.

I remember both Jungle Hunt and Jungle King, Bitd. The later is definitely the superior version especially in terms of artwork. Jungle Hunt's artwork was just dull!

Pirate Pete - I never knew this existed till it was mentioned in one of the RGVAC posts way back when. I know I never encountered one Bitd. Since I lived in the Chicagoland area (Taito's main branch) my whole life; I did see my fair share of *most* of the Taito games. I think the Youtube's author number count on Pirate Pete is way too optimistic. It's definitely A LOT lower than 400. To my knowledge, "NO" Pirate Pete items have been found! We even seen an EYY, Kram, and Space Dungeon stuff make an appeance......

@ op's question..... If you sell it you can always get another one. Jungle Hunt/Kings are abundant.

If you were close enough, I would considering offering up my refurbished Mad Planets for that Jungle King in restored condition...

Jungle King and Elevator Action were the two best Taito games.. side by side they would look great!

Actually, Jungle King and Zoo Keeper were the two best Taito games. Elevator Action is snoozeville IMO. :).....

Jason Cram has an original boardset.

Jungle King is good but unlike the random Taito games like EA, ZK, Qix, etc that give you a different gaming experience each time through, Jungle King is patternable and repeats the 4th loop infinitely (after 16 screens).

Phet - you HAVE to do this JK resto. 1) It's simply a badass game - Taito's best & 2) I have an EA (with multi-Taito pcb) project I'm getting ready for and I'm counting on you to do this, so I can scam on your methods and madness!:D

Exactly what I was thinking.

Have you ever seen any "Water Ski" stuff? I've never even heard of anyone having anything. That might be the rarest?

Steve, I'm thinking Water Ski was a proto game. Too bad, really..... I prefer over Alpine Ski.

Very cool Jason has a PP boardset - was it a modified Qix? Do you know?

I still miss my JK I had to leave in Cleveland. Very heavily played game in my old arcade and great artwork. Somewhere in Ohio there is a really nice one, at least it was 10+ years ago.....

I'm not exactly sure, I'll find out from him.
