I haven't heard much about this game lately. Anyone have a beautifully restored one in their collection? How about just a working one? I think the game would be a pretty sweet addition with the Tarzan Yell and all. I've got one here to restore, just wondering if it would be worth it, or should I sell it off as a project? Or should I restore it and sell it?

Jungle King is a great game! I knifed a lot of alligators in my youth. Make sure you crank the sound WHEN you restore it, the music is great on that one.

Todd Tuckey of TNT Amusements has the amazing Taito TrimLine version of the game. See if you can get him to do a few detail shots of his or maybe a nice little vid.

I love my Jungle King.
It would be a shame to go through with a restoration and not keep it.

I know, but I may not have the room for this guy. I have 12 projects in the garage and only 3 spots left in the gameroom. I may have to start a wall of working games in my garage for the neighborhood I guess.

I have what's left of a Jungle King (or Hunt) TrimLine mini. The cabinet and monitor glass are still Jungle King; the rest was converted to Elevator Action.

Not much hope to convert it back, so it is going to stay Elevator Action. Still, I'm tempted to pop in a Jungle King boardset every now and then...

Look at this, beautiful!! It is porn!

No dedicated unit here due to space limitations, but this is getting the most play from me on my multi-Taito, more than Elevator action or Zookeeper. I really dig this game, but I'm stuck after clearing all levels the 2nd time on the 3rd round, I've gotten as far as the rolling boulders you jump. Damn this game gets much more difficult. So in short, if you do not have the space limitations I do, restore it and add it to your lineup, you will not be sorry.

IMO, Jungle King is the best in the Taito lineup...love that game! Fired mine up 2 days ago and *zip* nothing! Gotta get on that real soon!

How can you make a declaration like that??? Do you realize how many AWESOME games Taito has made?????????????

Easy! They were my favorites growing up during the early 80's.. Sure there's lots of great Taito games, hell I can play Rainbow Islands till the cows come home!

Here is a great youtube video about Jungle King / Jungle Hunt and the story behind the name change:

That was cool... I'd never played Pirate Pete thinking it was just a simple graphic change (like king to hunt)... but there are some different gameplay elements as well. I'll have to try it out in MAME.

Restore that Jungle King, awesome game, theme, sounds, etc. a lot better then jungle hunt
