i'm getting closer to finishing my jungle king restoration, only a few more things i need to figure out. amongst them is the correct wiring!

my taito cabinet was empty, so i got myself an original taito harness which had been modified by the previous owner to be used with a switching power supply (not a bad idea for taito games). it's not an arcadeshop mod, more of a "personalized version" ;). wires have been sliced in to be hooked up to a switcher. here's what's been done ->

120v ac

M RESET and +5v (both need to be connected to the switcher's +5v)

as you can see, some of the wires have been cut at the connectors, but when i hook everything up to the switcher (ac, +5v, m reset and ground) i do get a jungle king picture on the screen. however, what i'm missing are the +12v and the -5v on the connectors. does jungle king even need those two voltages? if that's the case, can i simply slice in wires for example at the same connector where ground is sliced in (see picture 3 above)? the yellow wire would be +12v and the brown wire -5v. then hook those up to the switcher as well?

i hope you know what i've been trying to tell you ;)

btw, the lockout coils are those round things on the coin door, right? i've always wanted to know what their function is ...

They are there so that the game can control when it will and won't accept a coin.
Most often they were only used to prevent the mech from accepting a coin when the game is powered off. I suppose there were a lot of dumb people back then, who would put a coin in a dead/off machine, then complain to the operator and demand their money back...
