almost done with my jungle king resto! i have the picture on the screen and a hum from the speaker, but i simply can't add a credit (and therefore i don't know whether i have sound / music or not).

there was another guy here with exactly the same issue, unfortunately his thread ends without a solution.

the manual says the following about credit problems ->

the thing is: i have no idea where that W1 (jumper) is supposed to be on the video board nor do i know of a cmos battery anywhere on the boards.

one more thing: when i put the game in test mode, the screen states all RAM is good, after that it keeps resetting, displaying the same test screen again.

what would you do / check?

back from a test run! tried to add credits by doing the following directly at connector G on the board: shorted pin a (ground) with pin j (coin 1) and on the other side of the connector pin 1 (ground) with pin 8 (coin 2). unfortunately no reaction at all!!!

i need some input, guys! :)

here's an update - hope someone will chime in eventually ...

today i shorted pin 1 (ground) with pin 11 (service switch) directly on the pcb's edge connector and guess what?

ok, what does that mean? i cannot add credits via the coin switches, i cannot add credits by shorting the coin switches on the edge connector, but i CAN add credits via shorting the service switch! if you ask me, something has to be wrong with the board ... what do YOU think?

btw, i can't add credits through the credit switch on the coin door directly because i have a taito coin door from a different game which doesn't have the service switch!

The message about the CMOS battery is a left-over from a Qix manual or something. Sloppy proofreading.

I've had the same problem before and have never been able to resolve it.

You could try swapping the 8910 at IC63 as that is used to read some of the coinage dip switches.

The service switch and the actual coin inputs go through different circuitry. So, if one works and the others don't, you could always jumper over your coin switch to the service switch pins at the board. Success!

There is a fair amount of components in the coinage path. Some of it's for triggering the counters, enabling one or two way coinage, and locking out additional coins. It all winds up at a prom/rom that is enabled by a software read, so you can't track the pulse all the way through easily.

See if you can follow your coin switch pulses through to pins 6 and 8 at IC28 on the game board. The only thing after that is the ROM at IC14.

I'd put the jumper on the service switch pin...
