King! ... of nasty
Here's Jungle King 141508:
I've been meaning to get started on this project forever. The cab is mostly OK. Some wear and swelling. There is a slot cut into the kickplate for a bill acceptor (now gone). The whole thing is very dirty.
The marquee and bezel are in good shape. Not much flaking. The wooden base is too rotten to reuse. Will need to make a new one:
Most of the internal parts are still here. The power supply is missing. It was probably replaced with a switcher at some point. There's no way the old game board still works. The monitor looks good:
The original harness has been hacked up to accommodate some jamma board (maybe?). The wiring is pretty sloppy. There's a light bulb installed inside for some reason:
There's a ton of rodent/animal damage:
Wow bleh. Mice, mud daubers, and wasps. There's an earring in the mouse nest:
The control panel and CPO are in good shape. There are extra buttons on this panel. Not sure if I want to keep them. They were actually installed pretty well. They would be really handy if I get the HSS multi kit:
I've decided to keep the original side art. I think it has a nice patina... and I really don't want to strip and re-stencil. There is some swelling wood around the edges as usual for these Taito cabs, but not too bad.
I'd like to fix the game boards. However, If I can't get them to work, I have a working backup set. It will be great to play Jungle King (and Elevator Action!) in an original cab.
