I always thought Jungle Hunt was a twin speaker cabinet. Come to find out my newly acquired King only has one speaker in it. I look it up in the docs and I'm seeing there's only one speaker. I was sure these had two speakers. Can anyone confirm this?

I think most, if not all, of the Taitos in that era cab only have one speaker. My Zoo Keeper and Jungle King both had one speaker and two holes.

I have heard of people adding a second speaker and wiring them together so you get sound out of both speaker holes.

Being my only speaker is ripped to shreds - does anyone have a link for a good Taito (7"?) replacement speaker?
I think I would like to try wiring 2, but if it's just Mono I can see it doesn't make much sense.

Yep I saw the same thing on my Jungle Hunt that I converted to a King. 1 Speaker on the left side of the screen but there is a grate for a second one. Was planning on wiring it in but expect only mono sound anyways.

So are these Taito cabs 7" or 6.5" speakers? Apparently 7" speakers aren't very common. But I am finding alot of round 6.5" speakers. Just looking for a good replacement speaker for Taito cabs. Hasn't anyone replaced their old Taito speakers?
Can't seem to find any just right. This one's a little pricey and I don't know enough about woofers/subwoofers/3ways -whatever. Just an arcade speaker that fits and works at 4ohm 5w would be nice.

So anyone know where a Jungle King speaker can be found?

Dang... I just gave one away 2 weeks ago, from a water-trashed Taito cab! I'll look through my bin of parts, and if I find one, it's yours.

I've got 2 in a Space Dungeon cabinet (assumed they are the same) I'm trying to give away.

Let me know if you're interested in one or both. I'm leaving town tomorrow so it will be next week before I can ship it.

Yes - I am interested. I am looking for a replacement Taito speaker for this.
Does anyone know where a new one can be bought that will be a good replacement for a Taito speaker?

Qix is a different style of cabinet if I remember correctly. Isn't it a flat top cabinet lik eCrazy Climber?

I realized the other day that my QIX has two original speakers installed. Huh.

If there is room to mount, I'd mount one of the bob roberts shielded 6x9s in there. I think they're only 10 bucks and as long as they will fit, I don't think the game will make them move enough to rub against the wood. I used a pair of them in an old 4pl Aveners cab to replace the 5 or 6s that were in there and they had some good base to them. Sounded pretty badass. Also, they are the perfect replacement for any midway game like ms pac or galaga.

So your saying that a Bob Roberts - 6x9 speakers is a good replacement for the taito speakers?

Do you have access to a router and a hole cutting jig? These are popular/common for building speaker cabinets.

You could build an adaptor of sorts out of 3/4" MDF (machines smoothly) to go from 6.5" speaker to the size you need. I will be building a Taito cabinet soon, so I am sure that I'll be in the same boat.

I can't say that for sure. What I can say is IF there is room to screw the 6x9 down and clearance for the speaker and its magnet, I know the speaker is shielded, so it won't interfere with your video. And if it is larger, it should give you a better sound. If it uses an external grill, you should be able to keep the original grill without any modification(OK you might have to use shorter screws if they come through the back). I had used a pair of 6x9s in a 4 pl Captain America cab one time and it really livened up the cab with some nice bass response. And at 10 bucks and shipping, it couldn't hurt to try. They appear to be very well made. They should also be 8 ohm which should match the original, and if you can't use it in that game, you could always use it in any midway game....or almost any other vid. I'm just saying its my goto speaker for damn near everything these days. I've proably got a couple laying around hear now. I think I replaced a pair of Star Wars CP speakers with a set, my Galagas, etc. There are some applications it wouldn't work in. It probably wouldn't fit a Tempest from the looks of the cab. And even if you want to go with something else, I'd bet bob has a couple 5.5, and 6" shielded speakers as well.....But from what I remember about the picks don't look nearly as well made as the 6x9. Hope that helps and,,,,
Happy Gaming
