Hey guys,

Has anyone put a "Modern" stereo receiver in their juke? I plan on keeping the original amp, but I would like to hook up a newer receiver.I'm sure I need a pre-amp of somekind to hookup to the wires from the cartridge? Any advice?

You'll need this preamp to use with modern receivers:

That preamp has the correct equalization network built-in so that the music will sound correct with modern equipment.

Don't forget that by patching the sound from the phono cartridge, you bypass the mute function of the jukebox's sound system. You'll hear all the noises between records of the motor running, the mechansim basket turning, and the tone arm needle setdown/move out of the way.

If your 'modren' amp has a phono input you can try that, it should work.

Like Ken said:

Don't forget that loud ScRuNcH noise when the brush wipes the needle, if your juke is so equiped.

Hey look... 100th post!

As Ken said you'll need the correct preamp and you'll lose the mute function.. I'm not terribly familiar with anything other than Seeburg, but a Seeburg will not reject a record without the amp installed as it is tied in with the mute trip relay I believe.

It probably wouldn't be terribly hard to roll your own relay with a new amp though, if you really wanted to go to the trouble.
