This juke is local to me and is up for sale at a price I may be able to afford. He says it hasn't been turned on in 15 years... which means I fully expect it to not work.

Can someone tell me a ballpark price to offer for this unit thinking it is non-working... and whether or not it's a decent sounding unit...

It sure is ugly as hell... which makes it cool to me...

It`s a 1961 Seeburg DS. When it was brand new they went for just over $1500. I agree with Ken, $200 tops. From the pic the glass does`nt look original. If the ears are original(the speakers that stick out) they are worth a few $ because most of them were lost over the years.

Thanks guys... this seller wants $550 and is unwilling to negotiate. I have another on the line though I think they're asking way too much but may be willing to do a trade.

Here she is...and it's supposed to be fully functional and partially restored...

That R-89 is one of the duller-looking boxes Rowe ever made. The only interesting thing about it is the keypad, which does not have exposed buttons. If you are looking for an attractive juke, just Google model numbers R-85, 86, 90, 91, and 92. I sold an R-86 and R-91 this week for $600 each, perfect working order, full of records, with just a few nicks and scratches. Unless that R-89 is mint, I doubt it is worth any more than that, imho.

Juke guys seems more delusional than even vid guys around here. Dude wants $1,000 for the above R-89 without records and isn't willing to negotiate.

There's also a Rockola Technica 480 local that "needs work" for $750...

Really?

BTW - What are some good models to look for that you can SEE the record playing...and/or some of the mechanics operating when the record changes, etc?

R-89's are a dime a dozen. Should be priced at $150 to $300.

A Rockola 480 for $750? He must be stoned. A 480 is only worth $150.

Welp, looks like I'll be picking that DS160 in about an hour. It's not been turned on for 15 years (so claims the guy)... but unless it's just beat down, I'll likely get it.
