Ok!
Now that these boards are out and entering "the wild", I figured id start a new thread to maybe share some ideas on control panel / cab designs for this awesome board.
What is the general consensus for cab design, artwork, and cpanel arrangement. Is most everyone going to go with the "classic" multi williams look, or with this new technology are we going to come up with something totally new for a new "classic" design for this board?

I was looking at the "classic" multi-williams layout just so I don't have to muck with getting a custom CPO printed. Although, I really want to be able to throw a Sinistar 49 way joystick into the center of it...

I haven't thought far enough ahead to side art yet. I have a Stargate cabinet with black sides that I am planning on stripping and repainting to house the first one. It had been converted to a Robocop so the JAMMA harness is already in, as long as I can verify the wiring is OK.

As mine's going into a Defender, I'll be building multiple control panels (a flat plank of wood is just so easy to swap out). Obviously one will be a Defender panel plus extra button for inviso. I have a spare old panel perfect for that. The other one will have the Robotron sticks and enough buttons to make Joust and Blaster playable.

I do have a 49-way stick but as it's currently in a perfectly working Sinistar, I guess it'll be staying there.

I took the multi williams file that is up on line and cleaned it up a bit. I am re-installing illustrator, so I can't mod it right now, but will post it if anyone is interested.

I guess I was hoping for some ideas that we all can come up with as a community for a "standardized" series of art for williams and defender cabs. Something kinda like was done for Donkey Kong 2 art.

Mine is also going into a defender and I LIKE this Idea! It may take a bit of work, but being as defender CP's are so easy to swap, maybe a molex connecter on each, and have dedicated panels?
Might be too much work at a party though.

Two eight way joysticks for Robotron and a Sinistar joystick dead center.
Although you can use one of the Robotron 8-way sticks for Sinistar if you don't have a proper 49-way one. Not *as* good but still playable.

My argument for a separate Defender/Stargate panel is always that the up/down joystick is uncomfortable to replicate with an 8-way Robotron stick, particularly as you have to hit Reverse with your left thumb. It's a compromise too far for me.
