Say I wanted to put the JROK Multiwilliams in an original Robotron cabinet that was perfect and original in every detail except that it was broken (well, it does have a switching power supply). Say I don't care what it looks like, only that it works. Could I just put .156 header pins at the end of the JAMMA connections and plug existing wiring into it? Then I wouldn't be defacing the original harness, boards or whatever until the boards were repaired again. I could use wire ties to hold stuff in place. I have wired other things before and I know how to do the header pin connections (with shrink tubing, etc.).

The goal is not to deface it, but put this solution in place at least temporarily.

Opinions?

Please dont poke holes in the CP. Buy a metal panel and overlay. Unplug the CP and set it aside. Run a new jamma harness, PS and controls. Just leave every thing original. We de-convert williams games all the time and original parts like cp's are getting hard to find!

I was thinking more of just connecting the wiring to the existing connectors. THis Multi will only be playing Robotron, Splat, and Bubbles. The goal is to play Robotron mostly, I'm not removing anything from the cabinet - wiring, or anything! It's a Mini as well so that's even more reason not to deface it!

Any opinions on the feasibility? Has anyone done this?

I temporarily did this with my robotron. I must say that joust was pretty fun to play by tapping the fire joystick for flap. I made my own adapter harness by following a diagram jrok posted. Do a google image search for jrok wiring diagram. There is also a member here that sells a universal adapter harness that's really nice from what I read. I think they're reasonably priced after time and material are considered.

After rereading the original question.... I just hacked a jamma harness to fit. I wouldn't solder headers straight to the jrok board if that's what you're asking. A harness also let's you group your wiring together for the different inputs/outputs.

Contact JROK. At one time he talked about adapters to put these in original cabs.

Let's get this game back up and running. There are plenty of converted
Cabs out there to put a JROK board in. Splat would be more fun with
4 joysticks and what about defender and stargate? I would want to play
Them all!
Just a thought
