JROK Multi-Willy board

Please don't. I will sell you my personal JROK board if you promise to never buy one of those. And this is assuming it is for your personal collection, and not something you're planning on flipping.

alexcc, please let me know if you're interested. I have others wanting to take me up on my offer.

I too have been trying to get a MW for my duramold, but appears jrok will be busy for a while. I thought about the 19-1 but the menus are so shitty. I was told to buy a programmable pcb, but if one of you guys have a jrok board for sale in the $250 range I would take it...sigh..

What I don't get is how it sounds like there are so many guys that have the Jrok board, but aren't using it. It's just sitting on the shelf collecting dust. There are all these guys looking for one and everyone says I have one blah blah blah but it doesn't sound like they are in a game being used? I was lucky enough to buy one from someone (for a premium price mind you) and it is in my Robotron being used and is booting up into Robo to eliminate the flaky problems I was having with the original hardware. Now my Robo is 100% ALL the time and it is great!! I'm never selling my Jrok since it is keeping my favorite game and ONLY arcade game 100%!! I guess everyone is just keeping their Jrok in case they want to sell it or if they ever need it in the future? Oh well....I'm just glad I got one so my game could be reliable. I just feel bad for all the guys saying they need one and can't get it.

I think the answer to this is simple enough. Once a person has been in this hobby a good while they realize that when projects like the jrok board happen they may be a one time thing. So basically you buy the item when it's available, pay a premium later or just never have one. I was definitely one of the first people to get in line to buy the jrok board and although I have tested the board, it does not yet have a permanent home in it's own cab. I do have a cab that it will eventually go in, it's just that I have many projects and I've yet to start on that one. Sure there are those who buy it just to later resell for a profit but I believe most bought it with the intention of using it eventually.

Don't get me wrong I do feel for the folks who came late to the party and can't get one but it's just how this hobby goes. Just FYI other projects that are likely to be the same scenario are the asteroids multi kit that is coming, the multi sega vector that came out and I'd bet also the star wars multi that is coming. Bottom line is there usually just isn't a big enough demand for an individual to continually build more of an item. Remember they pay up front to build an item that they can't be sure will sell. They could lose money.

Only suggestion I got for those who want one is to start a "who wants to buy one" thread and compile a list of people who are interested in buying the item. If there is enough interest it's possible the item will get another run made to fill the demand. That's what happen with the exidy 440 kit which is another one of those kits that will probably never be made again.

In my case, my JROK MultiWMS board gets swapped in/out of my generic JAMMA cab when I want to play Robo, Sinistar, Bubbles, etc. It's not in there at the moment. I have no desire to sell it, but if someone really needs one to finish a project then they can buy it (I can wait for JROK to make another run of them and buy one then). Someone suggested buying a bootleg Arcadeshop board instead, which would cost $282 shipped. I offered my JROK board as an alternative, but nobody has taken me up on that offer yet.

IMO the Duramold CP is really not big enough for a decent MW setup, I know it has been done in the past and I have seen the Phoenix Arcade CPO but really, it's just too small for Stargate/Defender.
I want a Jrok so I can play Sinistar! The Jrok has a special connection for the 49 way joystick and that makes it very desirable to me. I hope he makes a new run soon as well.

Same goes for me. I have one that I'm not currently using, but did buy it to build one more multi-williams machine. I bought one from just about all the runs he did and had to pay more for this last one that I purchased off another klover. I have a cab now and a marquee coming, but this is still a project behind many others. I offered to sell mine for a price that was suggested in earlier posts if someone wants it that bad, but other than that didn't really have plans to sell it or buy it just to resell it.

P.S. Like mentioned before. If someone makes a special kit, board or item of some sort its best to buy it at that time, even if you can't use it right then and there. For one it helps support future kits/boards/items by that person and second you will always have one instead of going crazy trying to find one later when they are not in production anymore. Worst comes to worse you have a 99% chance to sell it if you know you will never use it later. Its always better to be safe than sorry because when they are gone they gone. Berzerk control panels are a perfect example!

exactly. i had a williams cab available that was gutted, and i wanted to do a multi wms project, so i scrambled and bought a jrok pcb as soon as it was available, and it sat till i got the other parts acquired to finish it...

I've spent the last couple of days at an arcade event. Spent most of my time playing Defender. I was chatting to the owner about reliability, and how impressed I was that the Defender hadn't missed a beat over the two days. He then tells me that the reliability is because he got fed up with constants problems so put the Jrok board in there.

That came as a big suprise to me - you really would not know the difference between a Jrok board and Williams hardware. A very impressive bit of work. Great achievement. I'm in no great hurry to get one, but if they do ever come up for sale again then I'll buy one for sure.

that's the beauty of it - it's running on its native hardware. if it was emulated a la the 19-1 arcadeshop board, i'd never buy one and hold out to get all the williams games individually.

Perf is correct, probably coz I talk to him regularly ;) All the boards are sold out right now.

I want to get the Mylstar board finished before I do a new run of WMS boards. Which I need to make a few revisions to before the next batch.

Partial thread necro, sorry.

Revisions? ... Just an idea... but being able to have a 49-Way as one of the TWO joys (no reason for a 3rd) and having the signals converted from 49way to 8way for the games that don't use it (either the middle or long throw on the stick) would be awesome. ... Just saying. ;)
