I'm just about to start wiring my board and need to ask a couple of questions.

I know each joystick and button connector needs a ground wire. Can I get away with daisy chaining the wiring from button to button? Will this work out correctly? Then I would have a common ground for everything.

I know all the other buttons need to be wired directly to the jamma harness.

Can anyone post a pic of their wiring the board for reference sake?

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Depends on if you're good at crimping/have the right tools. A proper crimp will hold w/o needing solder. Otherwise you need to solder it. I just FINALLY bought a crimping tool for molex connectors and WOW is the difference night and day. Saves so much time.

Well, I purchased a proper crimper and it works fine except for my knuckles making popping sounds when I use it.

I've read that sometimes the connection can be a little dodgy since the button can get bashed repeatedly.

I was thinking of going this route from a pic I found online:
With the green being the common ground.

I've got all the ground wiring done, and now I'm on the coin door. Service switch and high score reset. One side to a common ground and the other side to the harness correct?
Can I use a daisy chain common ground for all these?

Thanks.

Yes, daisy chain & share the same ground as all the other buttons wiring.

Ok, I just wanted to make sure.

Ok, now which switch is which? Is the Service switch the on or off switch or the momentary on/off switch? And the Test switch the on or off switch or the momentary on/off switch?

I was going to use a momentary on/off switch for the high score reset. That would work correct? On the 6 pin connector pin #5 for the select game menu lead, I can add another switch for this one correct or do I need to use this lead?

Thanks.

The JAMMA Test on/off switch for the "Auto/Manual" and momentary JAMMA Service for "Advance".

Yup !

Pin 5 is purely optional. If you use the standard 1P & 2P hold down to get to the menu then you don't need the 'Game Menu' option wired at all. If you wire it to a button you can use it to shortcut back to the main menu without holding the 1P & 2p buttons down.
