HOT TAKE: I installed a JROK in a Stargate this weekend and it is amazingly awesome in all ways. Life is a little brighter now and my coffee tasted better this morning thanks to JROK.

I installed it in my Joust cab and now all that I seem to play is Robotron.

How hard was it to do?

I was thinking of doing it on my robo.

what did you use for control panel/where did you get it or did you build it?

I prefer dedicated cabs ... i.e. play Robo in a Robo.

However, I do have the JROK in my Stargate playing both SG and DFNDR (no others) ... that makes sense as the controls are all there and work perfectly. :)

EDIT: My multiWMS does not get much play as I believe don't really enjoy the cluttered CP. It does not play Robo as well as my dedicated machine (CP control inconsistency not gameplay); it does not play SG/DFNDR well (CP control stick inconsistency not gameplay). Joust etc are OK, I guess. Still prefer a dedicated Joust CP.

I put a JROK in my Sinistar cab and love it.

I only play Sinistar with it.

I have to get another JROK board and make a Multi Williams cab to play the rest of the games.

Dedicated cabs are preferred, but when you get a Joust converted to a Make-trax and then is gutted to put a poker board in it, a Multi-Williams is not a bad alternative.

A gutted cab is time consuming, but not hard. An adapter exists to keep the original harness for a Multi-Williams.

wldfire sells the harness adapter.

as far as preferred or what-not that is purely a collector/hobbyist arbitrary decision.
No one here, including the extreme masters will find a gameplay difference between a JROK mws and the real hardware. I believe there is a minor sound difference that can be solved by using a real wms sound board with the jrok....but you simply won't find a gameplay discrepancy. period. :)

I made mine from a Stargate that I was about to take out in the backyard and set on fire. (kidding) I got the control panel from Arcadeshop.com, the leaf switch buttons and joysticks I gathered from various sources. It's pretty easy to do.

I'm currently rebuilding original power supply in my Defender and once I have that all dialed in and get adapter harnesses from Ken I'm going to put the JROK in there. I'm doing swappable control panels though. Really don't like those clustered panels and I want as much of the natural control feel as possible. Though I'm not holding out for the 4" Wico's when I build the Robo panel! 3.5" will suffice!

I have a friend with a minty full-prototype Robo upright.
To save wear and tear on the real equipment, which has never even had so much as a resistor replaced....he is running a conversion harness and a jrok.

I built a Robotron Cabaret for my multi Williams machine. I upgraded to the newer board set and like this one better than the original.

Wow that is a lot of bang for the footprint it takes up. Nice work.

I got mine installed in my Robotron Cabaret. I only play Robotron on it.

Installed nicely on top of the Rom board, and I've got the JAMMA conversion harness from KLOV member Wldfire. Great harness, Ken does nice work!

My Cabaret is still running off the linear PSU. I've rebuilt this PSU practically from the ground-up, and has been solid for years now. Once it goes out, I'll switch to a switcher.

What does it take to get the JROK Multi working in an original Defender cab? Besides the necessary control panel change, what kind of harnesses are needed?

I did a Defender MW with the TOG overlay.

Making that control panel right OMG what a pita.
