Doing this for my friend Jon. Not sure but may have been a factory conversion or vendor to JR Pac-Man from Mappy. This won't be a wordy thread, mostly just pics as most of you know what's happening. I'll give you the run down. JR Pac-Man art over Mappy artwork. Cabinet looks to be made up of odds and ends as the inside reveals cabinet inlay cuts for another game. One side is made of particle board (melamine), the other is that brown MDF board that totally swells if it even looks at water. Bottom was once repaired with fiberglass to fix water damage, but whoever did it has no idea of what a corner looks like and just wrapped cloth fiber any which way, and made it lumpy to boot.

Wow, WAY more than I would do for one of my friends! :D

FWIU, Bally Midway used pieces from other games pretty often. Just recently on the forums, I've seen a Solar Fox side be used as a cabinet bottom.

Looks good so far- good luck with it!

You did a good job.

But with that much bondo, a couple of kicks will crack it, I'm afraid. Maybe it would have been a better idea to put a new 3" piece of wood there?

Underneath the bondo is fiberglass and mesh from the previous owner. You could probably take a hammer to the 1/4 inch of material and not do too much damage. The bondo is more or less sculpting clay to make the corner right again. Then it will get laminated and will also get an aluminum L bracket for the edge.

Sweet, nice work!

Left T-molding channel cut. Once over the corners and then laminate.

Make dolly rear wheels look new again.

Attach and spin the wheels, sand down while spinning, start with 80 grit and work down. All depending on how beat up they are. Then using a blow tourch while it's spinning begin to melt the surface. Once it's pliable use a moderate sandpaper , I use a nail file to smooth out. Don't do it too long only takes a few swips to smooth completely because it's soft. That's it.

You're doing a great job! Threads like this are my favorite.
You're really giving that game a new life.

The wheels look good but wouldn't that heating and sanding weaken those wheels.. I'd be concerned if they could perform with the heavy weight of cab when all put back together without cracking...they do look good.

Got the sides laminated today. Gonna begin painting the edges and insides and top/back tomorrow. I like to paint after the laminate is on. I've tried painting before and the paint is like magnet for the dust from the laminate trimmer, and you end up repainting anyway. If any gets on the laminate, just a little acetone cleans it off.

Spent most of the day repairing the marquee box. Now I know why the bottom was so bad. Apparently water at some point had made it's way down the box and onto the power supply (suitcase) on the bottom. Had to redo most of the corners and cut new channels.

Got that "F%$@ing marquee box finished. What a pain in the ass. They assembled it at the factory with little wood blocks, a dab of glue and two staples that go a 1/4 into the particle board. So after 20 years the glue breaks down and now all thats holding it is the staples which is worthless. Basically it falls apart. Had to reinforce every corner with screws and new glue but shes a beauty now. Side got new laminate and new t-molding along with the rest of the cabinet. All hardware stripped and polished.
