I will eventually modification a hack of Jr. Pac-Man's graphics and text. I may also need a hack of Pac-Man to go with it. Is there a way to do so on a Vista computer?

A minor graphic modification, such as changing Yum-Yum's sprites and changing (for example) "they escape" to "♥♥♥♥♥♥"

You should be able to pretty easily modify the gfx roms, I used to do that years ago. You just need to find tool to do it, check some of the mame hack sites.

I am guessing you are looking for a program to do the modifications, and probably a free one. I've heard good things about Paint.NET:

I use a commercial product for my image editing, so I don't have any experience with the free ones.

Thanks, but let me re-explain. I need a way to modify the actual game graphics that I can play in real hardware, not just edit a screenshot. I already have Photoshop to do that if I wanted.

I'm assuming you're referring to Turaco? I'm currently unable to use that as I'm using Vista.

Just CWSDPMI.EXE will do the trick. Then of course you want the Turaco drivers package and then you will finally need to add the ROM files for the game you will be messing with from Mame.

Hm, I get:
Warning: cannot open swap file c:\cwsdpmi.swp
Error: TDRIVERS environment variable not defined!

I have everyhthing organized in folders on my Desktop, with the CWSDPMI.exe in the same folder as Turaco. I'll try redownloading Turaco.

Got the program to open. Thanks! I'm not sure how to load a game however. How do I go about doing so?
